I have found that the point defence ion cannons on the providence class Trade federation cruiser have a 4.8 megaton yield as I just read the ISC for ROTS, this is equivalent to 2 isotons in star trek yeild as 2 megatons = a isoton which is a real measurement, photon torpedos have a 20 isoton yield which using DITL's system comes out at 6000 terrawatts. This means that Star wars is again no longer outclassed by Star Trek as those Ion cannons are far lower yield than the Heavy turbolaser batterys of an ISD. The prow cannons on the Munificent class banking frigate can also penetrate 1000 km of ice according to the cross section. This gives Star wars similar if not slightly greater firepower than Star Trek. To all Warsies out there, I believe we are back in the fight to prove Star Wars supremacy
does anyone actually know the real measurment arn't they about even
Ohhhhhh I misread the Munificents comments, it didnt say punch through a 1000km block of Ice its said blast meaning complete destruction
Ah the good old trek vs wars debate, i believe trek is better simply because the dont build mega city-sized ships that get blown up by something smaller then my room ramming its bridge. And in regards to weapons there are some weapons even star wars cant beat, the tharon weapon on the scimitar is an example, the scimitar would just cloak, fly next to the death star use the weapon to kill the crew then go on a planet killng rampage.
The scimitar has to power it up for 7 minutes so the Death Star could blast it any time it feels like it, mega sized ships that can be beat by little fighters wrong!!!!!!!! the SSD had been hit by the entire rebel fleet to weaken its shields around the deflector towers as they are a weakness in Kuats designs hence why the snub fighters were able to hit it with concuscion missiles. Blasting a 1000km moon was only been mentioned in Voyager episode Dreadnought as it could take it out with its 1000kg warhed
Neither are better, Star Wars is a Space Opera, Star Trek.. isn't, therefore you can not compare them.
If you only compare them by "Who would win if they fought", it's really just a waste of time due to the fact that that won't happen, the licensing wouldn't work, and it would just be a REALLY crappy movie, novel, video game or Mod, that is all.
This is really for fun so we warsies can torment the trekkies that they will lose to the First Galactic Empire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ah dont even try it, this debate will never end with a solid result, the warsies will say the empire will win then the trekkies will bring in the borg then the force will be brought in and the Q will appear to be the final result untill the warsies think of something new. However, the Q do seem to be immortal so HA!
I'm not implying that 1 will completely out gun the other, there will be a solid result if I can help it, the Borg are not undefeatable-a wookie can tear one apart, send in the battledroids etc etc etc.I am using Wars and Trek Cannon info to get to the final result and personal opinions are unwelcome into the mix as so many people say well star wars can beat trek cuz I said so-well bull back it up.The Q never interfere with anyone but Picard,Sisko and Janeway. So far my evidence includes 1.The killing of planets which Trek needed 1000 nx-01s said by Cmder Tucker,Wars needed over the entire imperial fleet as said by Han Solo 2.The evidence from the Official Incredible cross section of ROTS which states a yield of 4.8 megatons per shot from the Point defence Ion cannons, Star Trek standard photon torpedos are 25 isotons(the 200 isoton figure may be actually for the Type 10 photon torpedo which Janeway used on species 8472 in Scorpion pt2)Conversion comes out at 2 megatons per isoton so Star wars weaponary is again comparable to Treks This is the evidence I have Gathered so far, if anyone has any infomation which is cannon and can be proven so is free to add stuff to my evidence pile(If you do please make it obvious for people to see so that I don't miss it)
I only wish people could just enjoy the movies/shows instead of getting all technical about them.
