It only took 15-17 episodes, but now Stargate Universe actually has something happening.
Episode 18 is worth a look, if only for nostalgia. Richard Dean Anderson reprises his role as Jack O'Neal, and boards destiny, and Michael Shanks guest stars as Dr. Daniel Jackson. Also, there is a mole in the SGC.
Spoilers on recent developments.
I think SGU have been interesting since the beginning but maybe that's just me. Have been some people who have said: They really have listened to the criticisms and made changes accordantly but that's blown out of the water since SGU finished filming the season before the pilot aired.
They could cut back at times on the drama and the amount of time spent on Earth using the communication stones but overall have really enjoyed SGU thus far.

I stopped watching to be honest because nothing was happening

I didn't like the first few episodes too much, but I agree that lately the series has become a bit more interesting. I stopped watching Stargate ages ago though so I have no idea who those guys are that appeared in the last episode.
Anyway, I like Rush, his character is not too bad. Most of the other characters are a bit too simple and not really appealing to me though - they don't have the same charme as the original Stargate team.

The Lucian alliance, I assume that is who you are referring to, is what is left of the Goa'uld. The Goa'ulds themselves are all but dead, only the Tok'ra remain. The SGC did little to re-establish a governing body for those planets freed from the System Lord's control. Leaving them to their own devices, and those devices left behind (Goa'ld tech and ships).
The slaves of the Goa'uld formed an alliance, led by the most greedy and corrupt. As such, it is considered to be an intergalactic organized crime syndicate.
I have liked SGU from the beginning though I find some of the characters almost unbearable (The math wiz kid for starters).
I think its a nice change up from the regular Stargate series.
The first episode aired here last night. I didn't even finish watching it all, pretty seriously disappointed. I will maybe catch the others if I am doing nothing else, but what I've read from this thread doesn't give me much hope.
I can't wait for Stargate: Special Victims Unit.
I'll be one of the first to admit that this show was quite dull when it started, though I say that, I was one of the people who expected Universe to fall flat on its backside; I saw at least another ten seasons with Atlantis.
Suffice to say, Universe has picked up, especially lately. The chemistry between Young and Telford / Young and Rush is interesting. I also find Greer an interesting character too, not so much some of the others though. In addition to them, it looks like we're going to get a few new cast members via season two.
The single problem I see with this show, is the end of it. SG-1 was obviously based around Earth, and our Galaxy. Atlantis was based on Atlantis, and in the Pegasus Galaxy. Universe is based in multiple galaxies, and on a ship. You can't really get much bigger than that, so in a worse-case scenario, after Universe is done with the five, or ten seasons, its a likely chance that this will spell the end for the Stargate franchise. This is why I think they should have got the full ten seasons out of Atlantis, and then moved on to Universe.
Should have done them overlapping.
Most episodes of SG:SG1 and SG:A were single episodes. They had a start, finish, and end with each episode, problems were usually resolved unless it was a multi-parter.
With SGU it feels more like a evolving and expanding continuous story, you seem to have to see each week to be able to follow whats going on. I watched SGU on Hulu and after first two episodes I was not much impressed but it is really starting to grow on me and I now look forward to seeing it, unlike V which I am still having problems getting into.
The weird eccentric Doctor I did not like at first but his character is starting to grow on me now that we have some back story on him to help understand why he acts like he does.
