I know what your thinking... Wild Wild West has no relation to The Matrix Trilogy. As a matter of fact, if Wild Wild West had not come out, the role Neo might not have been played by Keanu reeves, but Will Smith instead. This is probably old trivia, but it has just come to my attention. I can not possibly see Will Smith playing Neo. What do you think.
I take what n0e says way too seriously

I dont think it would have reall mattered, what does matter though, is your sig is too large. 800x160 max
Actually I think it would have made for a very interesting movie.
I'm going to mourn now, for the loss we suffered.
On a side note, I may very well be seeing Mr. Smith live very soon.
What business do you have with Hugo Weaving?
could have worked
I have my doubts, most of Will Smith's roles are... humourous at best.

I significantly doubt that Will Smith would have been cast for, or even applied for, the role of Neo regardless of whether Wild Wild West had been made or not. Could you perhaps provide some reason for your argument to the contrary?
The role was also turned down by Tom Cruise too...he would have sucked ass as well.
All those who were offered the role before Keanu must of been looking to kill themself when they found out how much he made out of it. Up-wards of $250 million...For doin 3 films...can't beat that with a stick!
I don't know if the Wild Wild West had any relevance on Will Smith turning The Matrix down, but I do know that they asked Will Smith for Neo. I actually thought that Smith turned the Matrix down because his wife (Jada Pinkett Smith) told him to, as she didn't want to play with him in the same movie.
I once read this interview with Will Smith, where they talked about the Matrix. He said that he would have wanted more humour in the movie, if he would have been in it. He also said something about Keanu having done a good job. I'm glad Keanu Reeves did such a good, 'stylish' acting job. Humour wouldn't have fit into The Matrix.
