Watched this Horror film earlier, and must say, that for a Horror, I was quite impressed. It wasn't your typical "man running around with an axe" type of movie, but was based on a story around Human Terror, what we are capable of when put in danger, along with a minor scientific aspect of it. Throughout the film, we get a lot of character development. Different views of events from different people within the film, and one crazy Religious lady (who I really wanted to shoot, but she got shot by someone else later in the film anyway, was all good) - not that I have a problem with Religious folk, but this woman was crazy. The fact the 'Horror' aspect of it was based on the theory of doorways to other dimensions etc was also quite good I thought. In short, some scientists opened up a doorway to another dimension, which allowed for creatures of that dimension to appear here, and eat people. The ending of the film was also very well done, and at the same time, was very sad, and touched the heart (in a manner of speaking). It really does ask some good questions too, about what we'd become, and what we'd do to save our own necks. Personally, I'd advise people to see this movie. I thought (for a Horror, which generally, I'm not into) that this was quite good.

My Dad and I were the opposite. We saw this movie at home and it was like a live version of Mystery Science Theater 3000. We had far more fun ridiculing the movie than we did watching it. Most of what happened in that movie was fairly predictable and the characters were the usual gaggle of stereotypes. We were able to predict just about every "plot" twist and event that happened in the movie. We even took bets on who could come closest to guessing how it would end.

Well, granted some parts were obviously going to happen, but these days, thats half the point of a horror movie. The first person to die (the till boy), that was obvious, as was the death of the group that went outside. However, the ending, I didn't see coming at all. I figured one of two things would happen, either everything would simply 'return to normal' due to a time field or something, or, that they'd simply escape the mist, and be done with it. The fact that:

Spoiler: Show
The Dad killed his Son, and passengers, only to have everything be resolved after ward was a huge shocker for me. Was quite sad as well, all things considered.

I thought the movie was alright overall, i hated the religious bitch though, i actually cheered when she finally got what was coming to her.

Spoiler: Show
The ending however was not "good" in my opinion. I actually felt cheated due to it. Wait what, 2 minutes later everything gets resolved? Fuck that shit. It's not "sad". It's not "deep". It's fucking LAME!

I saw the movie and theaters and loved it. Everyone in the theater, starting with me, started clapping and cheering when that woman finally died.

:ditto: i had not idea about how to feel about the ending. but it was just incredibly stupid. i mean he kills everyone and i thought, thats works quite well, so what happens to him. then the military rolled out and just stood there. but it was pretty funny to see the 2 soliers walk up to him and just stare while he was crying.

I see what you mean here, you either expect them to die, or all be saved. Not go out the way that they did, but I think the writer wanted to try and get your attention. Imagine if you were in that position, what would you do? You say about everything being solved by the end, but all the time they were in the store, the military were probably cleaning up the mess they made.

Well i wouldn't be tempted to run into the fog when you can hear what is out there. I wonder what happened to the big guy too, you don't clean that one up quickly...

That is pretty much what everyone else got who went out into the mist.

Either they killed it, or, upon correcting the 'experiment' it was sucked back into its own universe / dimension.
