Yeah, back to the ugly mother-fuckers named by Schwarzenegger in the original Predator film. I watched it last night, and it got me thinking about the species, more specifically, the one in the actual first film.

As we've been led to believe, these creatures (for the most part) are Hunters, much like the Klingon's are in Star Trek, though as with the Klingon's, they also have farmers and non-military members within their species. It's logical to assume that not every single Predator is actually a Hunter, but that's besides the point for now.

Those we've seen, and those we know of are Hunters, and seemingly proud to be such, though, come the end of the first film, I beg the question; are these creatures (again, specifically the one in the first film) sore losers?

The reason I ask? Well, after the Predator was beaten by Dutch, he conveniently decided to set his arm to self destruct, in an attempt to flatten the area, and eradicate the hunter than had beaten him. This sounds like an alien who doesn't like to be defeated if you ask me.

I know on the other films (more specifically the AvP films) such device has been used to protect the human civilisation more than it has anything else, but in Predator one, this didn't seem to be the case.

Thoughts?

jep, you are completely correct. I keep lying to people saying: ooh the predator lost because he was extremely wounded or this or blablabla. But normally a predator would just rape a human, any human(even chuck norris...) But these powerful predators gets stomped by even a damn midget.. I don't get it.

If there is gonna be a new movie in dunno 2015. It should be this:

Jason statham, the most powerful, dangerous, cop of the planet is transported away from earth. He finds himself on a hunting planet( i know its done but still..) He gets information that the predator ( a young one) has chosen him, to be his prey.

Enfin, statham has everything to his disposal, you see him doing kicks, ramming a tree on the predator etc. Conclusion of the movie:

statham head gets ripped off his body and the predator shouts with the head in his hands.

Voila, srry statham fans, i just saw a movie with statham, could be ben affleck too :D

Predator are just damn killers, they aren't meant to be canon fodder in a movie.

*Ahem* A more serious answer. =p

Like you said, Predators are like Klingons, they are all about honor glory, etc. And in my opinion a Klingon would do the same thing, If they got beat they would at least try to best their ememy by any means neccesary if they were already dying or going to die. So I don't think they are "sore losers" necassarily but just over zealous about honor and going out in a blaze of glory.

That's just the thing, I don't think the Klingon's are quite like this. I don't remember an episode where they've deliberately crashed their ship into another for that blaze of glory. The Jem Hadar on the other hand, yes.

Klingon's don't mind going out fighting, they aren't the zealous type.

lol what's wrong with my answer? I'm serious about this. Predators are getting weak in the movies. They always die.. Even by a damn regular cop in new york!

Ari Gold;5399379lol what's wrong with my answer?
There is nothing... wrong with it, just not quite what I was expecting. ;)

In Predator, the Predator was out-smarted.

Be fair, on this occasion, the Predator in question had taken out a fair number of solders that were suppose to be the best at what they did. It just so happens that one of them happened to get lucky with figuring out some camouflage for himself. Be fair, the Predator was doing pretty much the same thing, if it wasn't for the cloak failing, he'd have no doubt won.

Predator 2, again, Glover's character got lucky. Happened to get a hold of some Predator weaponry and kill it. I think the Predator in question was injured too?

Alien vs Predator, the Predators in question were essentially teenagers, and in addition to being young and experienced, their weapons were taken by the expedition team (no doubt they planned to use these early on) and they were somewhat at a loss. In addition to being outnumbered, they were also out-gunned until near the end when that one got his weapon back.

Alien vs Predator Requiem, one lone Predator, which, to be honest, kicked ass. He finally came face to face with the Predator-Alien hybrid, and then face to face with a Nuke. Hardly the sort of thing you'd expect to survive from. ;)

Predators,

Spoiler: Show

the team of three. One got blown up by a grenade, in a confined space. Hardly a way out of that one. The second was defeated by a Samurai Sword, granted that was a little cheesy. The third (and final) not only had a fight with another Predator (possibly injured) but was also unsuspecting of the assault he was going to get.

I get the impression the Predators in the latest film were, as in AvP the teenage type. Maybe they were outcasts or something? Who knows. As with many a-teenager, they're cocky and don't always think about every situation they get themselves into. The 3rd of the group was no doubt over-confident.
I pretend like that particular movie never happened.

It wasn't that bad, just... wasn't that good either. =p

OMG huge spoiler ash! (predators movie)...

Oke, i concur with the first movie. Second, perhaps. Avp, ooh please. Throw it away..

Second avp, that predator was a really damn good predator! That my friend, was THE predator, i was talking about. Jumping through the ground from the sewer, using two guns, etc. That was a real predator!!

Predators, haven't seen it yet.

Still, if they make a new one, it's time to let them win.:bows:

I agree that they need to have one 'win', but ideally, not specifically against us. I think the Predator in Requiem should have won. Defeated all the aliens, and then jumped back onto his space ship and gone home. Instead of that, he was Nuked.

This thread made me watch the first Predator movie again. :p

Anyway, I would like to see a predator win for once as well, also seeing more of their origins would be awesome too. Maybe see them work more as a team if a new movie were to be made in the future with some marines again.
