But the question is was it a clone? How did Borden know about Tesla and what did he use Tesla for? What was Borden trying to do by sending Angio to Tesla in the first place?
Saquist;3574871But the question is was it a clone?
They were biological twins, both fully devoted in becoming masters at their art.
How did Borden know about Tesla and what did he use Tesla for?
Borden went to his show to see his gadget. If you can remember, Cutter suggests to Angier in one of the flashbacks to go see some of Tesla's stuff in work, which had two Tesla coils shooting electricity at each other. Borden was at the show too, probably looking for ways to dress up his act. He procured an object just for show (To make his trick seem more unreal), but his real trick was just as Cutter suggested- a double.
What was Borden trying to do by sending Angio to Tesla in the first place?
Borden wanted to strand Angier in America. Borden supposed that Angier's cash flow was nearly gone, and knew that he would spend every last pound he had to get a boat from London to the states, and off to Colorado, and spend the last amount on Tesla's device. Apparently, Borden didn't count on the device actually working, and Angier being able to return to London.
Intresting...this accounts for the confussion Borden seemed to have at what exactly what Anjio was up to...
It's funny I at first saw Borden as the bad guy and Anjio as the good guy...I mean...he killed the guys wife...I figure Boren had this stuff coming to him and I still do...but
as it turns out it seems that Anjio was the one that didn't seem to be able to let certain things go...when he said.."I don't care about my wife" I knew he it was just vengence sake...
Anjio had it coming and got it...in the end.
Angier was warned that this obsession would destroy him numerous times, by Cutter and Tesla. He had it coming.
I too felt sympathy Angier and hoped he'd upstage Borden, but he went too far.
Borden was not one man, but two so there was always a chance that he would kill or hurt the one that didn't kill his wife, which neither did intentionally. Julia was overconfident and believed that she could do the trick with the double whatever knot, and asked Borden to do it, and they were warned by Cutter about it, but she wanted to do it anyway, Borden also being overconfident, tied said knot and she drowned by accident. Anjino shot Borden's fingers off the get revenge for Julia, when Borden came up with the transported man and started drawing away Anjino's crowd, he became enraged with jealousy; vengence was simply a means to fullfilling a selfish need.
It was when the clone and Anjino first met that we saw the truth of his character, one of him immediately shot the other for fear of the secret being discovered, not caring at all about them, furthermore Anjino made his trick into a deathtrap for a hundred of himself, we never know which is the clone and which is the.... well, Anjino himself, or... the clone that shot him if that wasn't him, or if it switches each time. Each time he did his trick he murdered himself by drowning, and "agonizing" death.
Next time, use spoiler tags the lot of you.
I hate spoiler tags....
However every thing in this tread is a spoiler tag that's why I put spoiler on the title so people know...no ones complained so far..and it hampers discussion when so many spoiler tags are used...
So my post will be like this...because everything I have to say will spoil the movie.....Good god if we have to talk about movies like this when theres already a spoiler caution on the thread....!&^@#%@$*
But I see what you're saying but there was a clear and defining moment when that FAllen character shows up and if I see the movie again I belive it will answer a lot of question about Borden...they never say which one is borden and which is Fallen it's like there is no clear identiy....people have different characters...When people grow up together or apart twins always have a different personality and Borden had the same personality...the exact same personality...
I can't shake the feeling that Fallen was a clone...
