"ninemsn"PAAIN - Fans of The Simpsons cartoon classic have been given another cliffhanger to agonise over - which of the cast is coming out of the closet.
One of the colorful characters will tell the world he or she is gay - in an episode where lovable oaf Homer Simpson is ordained on the internet and begins performing same-sex weddings.
Hints about the plot line were dropped by show producer Matt Groening at a San Diego comic convention. But there are no clues as to who the character in question is.
An obvious candidate is Waylon Smithers, who is in love with dastardly nuclear power plant boss, Mr Burns. But his sexuality is hardly a secret.
Other suggestions are Marge Simpson's twin sisters, Selma and Patty, who have a string of failed relationships with men behind them.
But the show's writers are more likely to take Simpsons fans by surprise - it could even be tough Scot Groundskeeper Willy.
In the episode, the Simpson's hometown of Springfield legalises gay marriage - a topic which has prompted hot debate in America in recent months.
Meanwhile, Groening said he still plans to make a Simpsons feature film, but production will not start until the television series comes to an end.
Who do you think it'll be? I guess it will be crap though(like all new simpsons):uhm:

nah, the new simpsons aren't as good as the older ones, but they're still really funny. I think it'll be ok.
hmmmm, my first guess was smithers... then flanders, but hes married... wait! maude is dead! kent brockman thats all i can think of ight now.....
oh, btw, nice title... you had me pissed there for a sec
I'm not too keen on these ratings-grabbing ploys which change the show on a permanent basis. The whole Maude-dying thing has been utterly devoid of humour or interest, and Barney's sobriety has essentially killed off the character. It would be great if characters like Snake or Groundskeeper Willy could be dusted off more often, but I have a feeling this new change will basically have killed off the character in question by the next season.
Don't get me wrong, the whole "the show will be the same after the end of the episode regardless of what happens during it" thing is annoying and makes the show tedious in my opinion, but the way they handle these changes to the show is really poor.

Too bad that we dutch lag almost 2 years behind... the episode where maud dies was broadcasted 6 months ago here for the first time :( .
We will just have to wait and see, i think that it will have some pretty funny scenarios though. Poor Groundskeeper Willy, could he be gay? hehe.

damn:( And i thought Australia was behind a lot:uhm:
ahahahah, wow man.... sorry to hear bout the behindness... ned's already gone out with other women many times, almost got married once.... uhh yeah.... you've missed a lot..... that sucks......
I think that Flanders or one of his kids will be the one to come out of the closet. It would really funny if Bart was the one that turned out to be gay.

Principal Skinner. he lives with his mother, and has never gonee out with a girl in any episode. (I don't think).
He went out with Mrs. Krabappel a few times, but he might turn out to be gay, when does this episode air?
