I say, good riddance! The show hasn't been funny since it's 10th season, and the actors must have all amassed a large fortune by now. Let it end!
High as a kite

watching back over the older seasons there is quite a bit of adult humour, even similar to that of family guy.
I do like the Simpsons but its time has come. There cannot possibly be anymore ideas and the show has become more and more family based over the years with 'morals' making the show less funny and obviously we know every characters personality so nothing is really new anymore.

Good, the show hasn't been funny in years.

Skip to the end, 21:35. They called it years ago.

And about time, too. Never watched it, never will.
You can't fire me, I quit

The most surprising thing to me is that this apparently has nothing to do with the show's decline in quality (which has been old news since about the year 2000), but is because the actors have been asked to go from earning 8 million dollars a year to a meagre 4 and a half million dollars a year.
Studio execs have insisted that the show cannot continue unless those six principal actors take a 45% pay cut. A statement to the effect says: "23 seasons in, The Simpsons is as creatively vibrant as ever..."

Looks like they are just renegotiating wages, probably because the show doesn't attract as many viewers anymore.

So now nothing that was ever good will be on TV.

They should have finished out with the movie. Ended on a high note.
17th June 2002
Didn't they say that the series would end when they released The Simpsons Movie?
Don't get your hopes up too high!
