Nikki Finke’s Deadline Hollywood Daily » UNHAPPY NEW YEAR! Time Warner Cable To Lose Viacom’s MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon & Comedy Central In NY, LA, Everywhere

It seems you may lose about 18+ channels by the end of today. Talk about a crappy new year.

Scroll banners are already up on those channels for petitions and complaints.

We don't even have Time Warner and we have those banners.

I saw those, but I still have all of the channels. Anyone know what happened or what was up?

Viacom wanted more money for their channels and Time Warner said no. So Viacom threatened to pull the channels and launched a dirty pool ad campaign targeting kids. It worked, Time Warner folded and now they will hike our rates to make up the difference.

I was in Time Warner's corner on this, mainly because I didn't want a fee hike, but also because I saw the despicable ads Viacom put out. They were obviously targeted at upsetting children and visa vi their parents who would in turn complain to Time Warner. It may have been a brilliant move on Viacom's part but it was low.

Haha.. Houston got switched over to Comcast from Time Warner, so I'm safe there. And Lubbock is all Suddenlink, so I'm safe there too :D

Yes, but now you have to deal with Comcast. I wouldn't call that a particularly fair trade. =p
