*This thread probably existed when the movie came out, but I just now saw it, and the search feature is disabled. So I'm creating a new one.

After watching the Transformers movie, the thing that has me most intrigued is the All-Spark. Something just doesn't seem quite right about it.

1st. What in the Transformer's world is the All-Spark?

2nd. Why do all of the new Transformers turn out evil? I could understand the X-Box 360 (bad design :) ), but what about the Mountain Dew machine, and the others?

Finally, what is up with that final sequence, where Sam has to decide who's chest to shove the dern thing in? Is it just me, or did that seem stupid?

The only answer I have is for the last question.

Spoiler: Show

You'll remember that Optimus Prime wanted him to shove it into his chest so it would cause him to overload and be destroyed, in turn destroying the all-spark. Instead Sam figured, why not shove it into Megatron so he is taken out instead of Optimus.

I don't wanna hijack your thread but I figure this is a good thread to ask this in. Who thinks there is going to be a sequel, what with Starscream surviving and the other Decepticons only being sent to the bottom of the ocean.

The bastards have a tendency of coming back in the cartoon over and over again.

Well, the Mountain Dew machine did start shooting cans at people almost immediately. Don't forget about the cell phone in the glass box too. Maybe they just have to be "instructed" on how to behave around biologicals. I reckon the All-Spark is a "magical" force that is capable of producing life from machine.

Yeah. It wasn't evil. It was trying to give everyone free Mountain Dew. It just went extreme on it, though.

Kind of like the old 7-up commercial with the 7-up machine that spat cans out.

[/quote] This is my understanding of the "cube". It is a tessaract/hypercube, which acts as a doorway, or conduit to higher dimensions. Within these dimensions is the Transformer's afterlife, as well as a source of limitless energy, knowledge and therefore power. When it transformed into a smaller cube, it didn't really get smaller, it just folded in on itself in a higher dimension. Like a tessaract.

Not really a spoiler, but...

Spoiler: Show

If such a device was placed in a Transformers chest, it could upgrade said Transformer, giving him/her unlimited power. If it doesn't destroy said Transformer.

Other such devices, such as the creation matrix, or what I will call the "Leader Spark" may help to control the effect. Ie. Optimus Prime is the only one that could survive having the All-Spark in his chest.

That is my take on the final sequence. So I actually think that Sam was both lucky, and stupid. Playing Russian Roulette with the fate of the world in his hands, literally.

Transformers 2 (2009)

Spoiler: Show
Megatron is dead, and the Autobots now live on earth in peace. However, in a distant galaxy, Starscream has declared himself the new leader of the Decepticons, which angers those loyal to Megatron, particularly Soundwave. Soundwave, who is able to give life back to fallen robotic organisms, leads his own band of Decepticons to earth to resurrect Megatron. To make matters worse, Starscream has heard of an energy source birthed from the Allspark by Sector 7, and he leads his own band to earth as well to take that source of energy. However, Soundwave cannot complete the resurrection without another energy source known as the Creation Matrix, which just so happens to be in the possession of Optimus Prime. With one band of Decepticons closing in on Optimus Prime and another band of Decepticons looking for the ultimate power, the Autobots, as well as Sam, Mikaela, and the former members of Sector 7, find themselves caught in the middle of a Decepticon civil war that could ravage the planet, and they must fight their way out of it in order to save the human species from extinction.

Now this is my take on the X-Box, and Mountain Dew Machine.

Spoiler: Show

I think that the All-Spark just animates technology. Giving them the appearance of life. Yet because they do not have any intelligence, they are just brainless zombies, given to destruction.

Other pieces of Cybertronian tech are needed to provide the means for intelligence, and/or the conscience. Such as the "Creation Matrix" in Transformers 2. The Matrix having preset standards by which to tap into the All-Sparks energy source, and channel it into a life source. In order to give the Transformer intelligence. Or something along those lines.

it is my assumption, that those are not evil. They are like small children, they want to play, and are not aware of their own strenghts. I have two small sisters, so I know full well how destructive can little children be. Thus they are dangerous, until they grow up.

Interesting...

Baracade isn't mentioned in here but there is no doubt that he survived cause the last time we see him is when they are all on the highway but once they get to the city...where did he go?

Thats really the only part of the movie that bothers me.

mmh yeah i agree, there is definately going to be a sequel, and yep i just read it. Looks damn good. I hope that there are going to be mucho sportcars in it. Like a porsche, ferrari, maybe even a fast and furious car  I hope we see some more autobots, because they are not going to survive i think otherwise in the new movie.

Spoiler: Show
i hope Jazz comes back, he was damn strong but i found it damn stupid that he ended in that kind of way. They could better make a scene where gave everything of his strength and teared something apart of megatron and that megatron just fired his gun on jazz. That would be a damn good ending for such a hero!

You can bet that the cars that are in the movie will be based on who sponsors it with the most money...
