The cake is a lie. There is no cake.

In this modern age of the entertainment industry it seems competition is strife among the big guns. In deed, in the UK at the mo, two of the biggest providers of digital TV, "Sky" and "Virgin Media" are quarreling over the few Sky channels that Virgin Media shows, culminating with Sky One. For £12 additionally a year (the offer by Sky), Virgin could retain the contract to show these additional channels. They refused. Now as a Virgin Media customer...I'm frikkin' annoyed! No Sky One is BIG trouble. No Nip/Tuck, Stargate (both of them), Bones, Malcolm in the Middle, random episodes of The Simpsons on masse etc. etc. Not forgetting those who also watch Lost, Battlestar Gallactica and 24, other highly hit-shows, mostly from the US. Now, by midnight tonight the current contract expires and until Virgin accept any offers (or Sky for that matter), bye bye to quality TV. Anybody else in the same situation? Those not affected, what do you think on the matter though? Granted Sky are acting almost like bullies, it does seem as if their requests are quite sensible. Almost a personal fight between Branson and Murdoch, but who could win? If Virgin don't continue the contract, does anybody win? More importantly, they both claim to be "supporting the customer"...and with the loss of possible channels, there isn't going to be much of that from Virgin. Who do you side with? Are you *(^(^(^*()&(£^&)&^)Q&()& like me, or are you welcome to the idea?

Seems to me like a clever ploy to steal customers on the part of Sky. Without Sky One, a heck of a lot of people are suddenly going to find a reason to go with Sky instead of Virgin/whatever - it's an important channel to a lot of people (myself included, though I'm already on Sky, so no problems there), and Sky are no doubt going to rake in some extra subscribers as a result of this.
The funny thing is I was totally pissed off with Sky for taking away my precious 24 but I have no choice but to join them.
I don't live in the UK anyways but, I have only one thing to say. "Bittorrent"
Virgin Media is the new name for NTL.
I have Sky.
