I'd like to see another better modern version of George Orwell's 1984, or perhaps The Hobbit.. but I doubt that.

Maybe Brave New World, a novel similar to 1984.

Watch "Brazil", it was supposed to be a movie about 1984, but it didn't get the license.

I'd like to see the Dark Elf Trilogy by R.A. Salvatore, or more films along the line of "Master & Commander" (plenty of O'Brian novels left for that).

Hm. Many have already been done, no?

Two Dutch books which could make movies when done properly:

Bod Pa About a lonesome man (/swordfighter) wandering across the Mongolian desert. It's full of fantasy and adventure. A little bit of swordfighting as well, which could make cool battles.

Montyn (English: A Lamb To Slaughter) A story based on the life of Jan Montyn, set in the Second World War. He joins the Germans as an escape of his devoted Christian life. It's almost unbelievable to believe everything written in this book, but it's all really happened.

Edit: And, you know what movie could make an awesome movie when done right: Frankenstein. If done right, this could be so much more than just a 'monster'-movie. The book isn't about that, but many other things. I think, when in the right hands, Frankenstein could be made into a brilliant movie.
