Hopefully I'll be getting Oblivion soon, and I've already had an idea for a mod, which I won't go into too much detail so it wont be stolen (:p)... but there are a few things I need clarification on. First, I wanted to make certain "spells" (maybe a better explanation later) always active, and some that are triggered by events (such as being spotted, or attacked/attacking). Can this be done with the construction set or something? Or would I have to code?

I'll give the basics of my idea.. the name (for now) is "Pure Medieval". This will make the game close(r) to reality. So the other reaces willl be removed (turned off), monsters "turned off" and spells replaced. So "magic power/mana" would now be "Will Power", which will be used to certain abilities such as "Sprint" that will fortify your speed for a certain amount of time. I've got plenty of other ideas for "spell replacements", some always active some (hopefully) activated by events, and some you must use (Like Sprint).

That's all I'll go into for now, and any feedback is welcome.

This is a somewhat long post, so to remind of my main purpose: making mod some spells turned off? spells activated by events? turn species and creatures off?

So.. you want to get rid of creatures.. and insert more magic.. and this is realistic how?

You totally missed that.

No, the magic would be replaced with certain other "realistic" abilities. You'll no longer be able to throw fireballs and such, but you can get a sudden burst of strength, speed, stamina, etc. Not all creatures would be taken out, just the "fantasy" ones. Such as Deadra, Goblins, and such. Deer, bears, and any other creatures that are "real" will be left in.

If you think the spell replacemtns I've mentioned are unrealistic, think really hard. You're running a race as hard as you can. Just before the finish line, the guy behind you starts to gain on you. Even though it seems like you physically can't, you push your body *that* much farther, get a burst of speed, and win.

Or if you are in a dangerous situation, you seem to become quicker, think faster, and stronger than you'd normally be. So let's say you're in a car wreck. You get out with a few cuts and bruises, but your girlfriend is trapped in the passenger seat. People in situations like this can do superhuman things. So in my mod, these superhuman things would be more common, and be things things that at least seem like someone could do.

That my friend is Called Adrenaline, Not magic, Once your body is pushed far enough it will release a hormone in which expands the Blood vessels that are mainly needed and constricts the blood vessels not needed which increases bloodflow to the more vital parts of the body like the Muscles..

This sudden burst of hormones increases the Muscle strength for a brief period of time.. Which makes you push your body even further without feeling the effects..

Example, a weightlifter can lift a maximum of 400LBS over his head, he goes into a tournament, and when competition arrives, and his whole career is on the line, the Stress level in his body will rise and Adrenaline wil be pumped throughout his body..

Then he will beable to lift about 450-500 Easily "he believes its easy, but his mind is just blanking out the innitial pain" His muscles can Tear from this.. but his body is doing this anyways because it fears..

So, this sudden burst of Strength is nothing "magical" or "wonderous" it is just your bodies defense mechanism..

When did I say it was magic? I said it would replace the magic. I am well aware of what happens. Magic will become Will Power, the ability to push your body further. Nothing mystical about it.

Now stop putting words in my mouth (:lol:). All I wanted to know is whether or not I could do this. So you can either answer that, to tell me something helpful, or buzz off.

Well, I get what you're saying, atleast. Since we can't just add random abilities to do, things like Adreneline and Sprinting would essentially be "spells" that the user would "cast" on themselves to activate it.

Why not when you are attacked and your health is lowering, your initial speed and strength go higher..

So the lower your health, the higher your attack points and speed..

That was my idea. Under certain situations, like health becoming low, being spotted while sneaking etc, will activate the "Adrenaline Rush" (varying strengths). This will fortify speed, strength, and maybe others, while lowering your stealth (try and be sneaky and quiet while your heart is racing).

Sprint and others would be used by the player. So that's the main thing I was asking, can "spells" be activated by events, and not have to be "cast" by the player?

as far as i know, the Nord Race have an Adrenaline rush, that makes them take more damage and les them run faster
