The beginning of Oblivion left many questions unanswered. What was the PC doing in jail anyway? Was he framed for a murder? Stole a great treasure? or maybe just randomly punched a guard in the face? Where is he from? Why does no one recognize him once he's out? Did he not meet anyone traveling through Cyrodiil? What is the PC's past? Etc. Well, I aim to solve this problem. I plan on having different quests about the PC's past depending on the choices he makes in the beginning of the game. Wich questline he gets depends on three events in the prologue: the choosing of race, The "path" question ("What should I do/I go my own way"), and the "Gods" question ("The Nine guide and protect us/I'm not on good terms with the gods/I don't really think about it"). My problems are twofold: I am not very skilled at scripting yet, and I can't come up with enough questlines to make playing each way interesting and fun. I would really appreciate anybody with a quest concept to submit an idea for an interesting story for one of the potential paths. The two questions are mentioned above and there are ten races making for quite a few stories that anyone can submit. And don't limit yourself to the borders of Cyrodiil. Go ahead and push that invisible boundary a little. I'll just add the new towns and NPCs when I get there (anyone who will help will be welcome too, but that's later in the process). Finally, would someone please point me in the direction of a good scripting guide? I need to brush up a little.

Realy, realy cool idea. I cant belive there aint 19823987432847 people who didnt think of it, its so brilant! I've got one idea. If you answered the I'm not in god thing with the gods, its because your litle girl was killed. your were put in prison after you did something bad, in link to that. Pobably killing a very important person, who was responssable for your girls death. Sry if I,m gorry a litle :P Realy neat Idea man ;)

Why don't we submit ideas in this form: Race: Path Answer: Gods Answer: Story idea: Also, if you can, try to make the storyline as detailed as possible as these quests need some meat on them. Good concept Snipefalcon!

Race: Kajit Path Answer: I'll go my own way Gods Answer: I'm not in touch with them Story idea: you answered those two things simply cause your a thief. Thats also the reason why your in this prison cell. The problem is, you didnt give back what you've stolen, and no guards found it. The person to who it belongs remembers it, and also know when your out of prison. He wants it back. Race: Imperial Path Answer: I'll go my own way Gods Answer: I'm not in touch with them Story Idea: you've answered that way because your girl and wife have been killed by the mens of a tiranic count. The two guys wanted to have some fun, so they raped your wife killed her and killed your girl. After that theyve burned down your house. You were trown to jail because you killed both the two guys and the count. When you killed the count, his wife came in. See knew what happened to your familly and was sure that you were going to kill her. And befor you see her, thats also what you thought. But you didnt, and she remembers it. She's the link in the story, the person you could do a quest with. LOL wow, I've been stuck in the subject a litle :P I'll think of some other ideas later :)

Race: Argonian/Khajiit Path: Own way Nine: Not on good terms

A recently freed slave from Morrowind who is bitter about his/her past. Desperate for freedom, takes orders from no one.

Race: Nord Path: What should I do? Nine: Guide and protect us

A thug who became a born again... (what is it you call people who believe in the nine?). Trying to make amends for his/her sins.

PS: Great idea m8!

*Bump* :D Good Ideas guys! I'm recording them as I get them in a word perfect document and keeping each one for when I need it. And if this thread ever gets to a second page, I'll post an update of paths I already have as the first post I can get in. Thank you, and keep sending in more!

I think this is a really cool idea. Don't give up on it, persist. If you need any modding help I'm your man!

I know i'm new, but this mod seems really good, and something i've been thinking about.

Just an idea- Race: Imperial Path: What should i do? Gods: Not on good terms. (Star: Something noble, wizard, warrior) Story: Maybe there was some epic battle (in the last 100 years of the game, because Imperials haven't been round for long) and your charcter was something of a Nerevar.

You were the commander of the best Legion, and helped establish half of the Empire, through military might against those who deserved, but understanding for those who didnt. As the empire finally established in Cyrodill, rebels appeared, and a bandit leader who's camp you destoryed finds an ancient tome which turns him into some unholy beast. He starts massing an army to fight yours, then obliterate the Imperial City.

You meet him in battle, and defeat the army easily. However, the Gods didnt help you defeat the beast (see later) because you accidently ordered your men to pillage innocents. This is the reason for you choosing "not good terms". The only way to kill this guy would be with some fancy, ancient weapon, which your charcters previous self had.

At the final fight, the evil guy used a spell (granted him by a vengeful god) to seal the character in another plane of existance, much like Oblivion. The evil guy, therefore, wasn't defeated in the proper way, and was simply killed physically and his spirit and mind moved on. Now, at the rebirth of the Oblivion threat, something about Mehrunes Dagon breaking the wordly barriers to contact Mankor Camoran meant your character could return, however the plane wiped his memory, only restoring your looks and simple memory of birth sign and the Gods not liking him.

Upon leaving the sewers, you are approached by an old man, who is the grandson of some soldier you thought with. He tells you that the evil guy is back and doing some evil shiz. You must find the weapon, gather an army (think a massive lord of the rings ending quest instead of crawling through some dungeon), regain the gods acceptance, and finally banish the guy. Completion means that you keep the weapon, and become a God.

Another idea- Race: Argonian Path: I go my own way Gods: I dont think about them Story: As you said, push the borders of Cyrodill, so i thought of a story about an Argonian cheiftain of a small, innocent settlement, raided and destroyed by the Blackwood Company. You are the only survivor, and seek out the leader of the Company. You find him in an Imperial town, attack him, lose, and get arrested by a guard for an extended period of time than usual (the guard was bribed by the Company). What you have to do is restart the town, make a warband, and kill the guy, only sneakily, so as not to get arrested again. basically the same as my other idea, without the Gods, and with the Dark Brotherhood side of things.

Wow. Someone is posting in this topic... Where did he fin- wait, there's still a link in my sig? crud. Well... you see, this one isn't going to go through. For a couple reasons too.

1: I'm too busy to work on it at all. 2: If we actually made a quest for each option as I first suggested, we'd have 90 different quests to script, develop, and implement. The file size would be huge and a lot of the quests would not be developed the way they could. 3: I was beaten to the punch with the "Legacy" quest mod. It has a branching storyline and I think it covers the origin of the PC.

I'll remove the link from my sig and we'll just let this thread die, ok? I'm sorry to see your ideas go to waste...:(
