So I'm trying to install the rest of the DLC for Oblivion and when I get done with the first screen, after you type in the activation code and you get that loading screen, it fills all the way up and then locks up. When I open up the task manager it says it's not responding. This is going on for all DLC and I can't figure out why. I got the DLC from the Elder Scrolls website and not from some black market place or something, if that helps. And I'm getting all content except Shivering Isles and KotN (I have GotY edition) if that helps. Also my Oblivion is up to date.

So as a summary, after I type in the activation code and get that loading screen, it locks up and the DLC doesn't work. The KotN and Shivering Isles work fine, it's just all of the others that aren't working. And no I'm not asking Bethesda by phone or by internet, if I ask by phone, all they're gonna say is something like "It is possibly because your data is corrupted." That's they're answer to everything. I asked them over the phone three times before and that's all they said, and 2/3 times it had nothing to do with the data! And if I ask by internet, I'm going to get a reply by the time I'm in a coffin buried under a meter of dirt. so my only choice was the forums. So anyway what should I do?

Are you using a UK Retail copy of the DLC?

While KoTN and Shivering Isles will install, they develop problems later on and on the odd occasion the packs will refuse to install. If you are indeed using a UK retail, then that's your problem.

The UK Retail copy of the downloadable content comes with the US patch, which while it does install, causes stability problems.

No I'm not using the UK retail copy of the DLC. And I haven't had any problems with KotN or Shivering Isles throughout my year long time period that I've had the PC version. So are you saying I need that link to the UK patch for the recently downloaded DLC or is it only for if I used the UK retail version?

It can't be a bad download, because there is just no way for it to happen to all 8 of them if that's the case. So then what's going on?

Just keeping the thread alive......

Still no luck and the internet isn't helping much......

Doesn't KoTN come with all the DLCs except for Fighters Stronghold? You should check again just in case.

No, I got the GOTY edition so it came with SI and KotN. You have to download all the others separately, which I did for $15. I have them on my computer, they're just not installing.

Hi,

If your problem is still unsolved, try installing the already activated DLCs in Safe Mode. That worked for me, so hopefully it will work for you too.

And if someone using Windows Vista happens to read this: you can use those DLCs from OblivionDownloads.com. You just need to do it under Windows XP - once extracted from the installation program, they will work flawlessly on Vista. You might need some tricks though, because the installer needs to know the Oblivion location on your hard drive - the following registry value might help:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Installed Path

If more help is needed, drop a note here. Of course, editing the registry is a serious task, so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who don't have previous experience.

Hope this helps. :cya:

Cheers, Luchesar

Did you join FileFront just to help me? I saw that this was your first post, appreciate that, but how do you get it in safe mode? I also lost the activation code for the DLCs, any idea how to get those back? (oops)

if you have bought this stuff from the Oblivion Store, they send you an e-mail with links for you to download your DLC's (as many times as you'd like) along with the Activation Codes

I'm not sure what my problem here is either though

I downloaded all the DLC's; the game is a GOTY version with the latest patches just done; the only thing different from yours (maybe) is that mine has Russian language now instead of English; maybe it was a bad conversion or something was changed?

but I get the same thing as you do - after trying to activate the DLS'c (any of them) - enter the activation code - and the window just freezes and says "not reponding"

very strange
