Problem in Dark Braotherhood Quest Whodunnit? -1 reply

I am having a problem with the dark brotherhood quest "whodunnit?" I have traveled to Skingrad and talked to the doorman. But as soon as I step into the house A woman takes a few steps towards me and stops. I hear a conversation upstairs between a nord and an imperial. And then nothing. I have no control over my character and am rooted to the spot. The woman in front of me doesn't say anything and thats it. I've left it running for a while and come back half an hour later to find myself still stood there and nothings happened and I still can't move. Any ideas?

Do you have any mods installed? Do you have either of the expansion packs?

No expansions and only a few mods, all of which I have deactivated to test. So even with vanilla oblivion it happens. And I'm testing before I receive the quest from Ocheeva so that no scripts start to run before I test it.

I was using OOO, MMM, Anb_regen and an Acrobatics/unarmoured mod.

Could you tell me the actual names of the mods instead of the shorthand, you could have just named half the mods out there. ;)

of course! :) Oscuros oblivion overhaul 1.3, martigens monster mod, ANB_Regen (health regeneration mod), natural environments, unofficial oblivion patch and Kvatch aftermath. And Oblivion is patched to 1.2

I've not heard of the Unofficial patch, could you please give me a link?

Other than that you have two mods that alter the games environment on a large scale, I find that these tend to cause errors because of spawn placements, a character will spawn somewhere random and then be transported to where it needs to be. It is possible the characters in the DB quest spawn somewhere outside that house and are unable to be moved inside.

I've read a faq on gamefaqs and it does say that the npc in question is already inside the house and should walk up and talk like in your prison cell at the start when the emporer walks in. The unnofficial patch link is The Elder Scrolls Source - Oblivion Modifications and Plugins
