Hello there,

Well, I've decided to play Oblivion on my PC, so I installed it. Everything's fine, but my in-game experience stresses the hell out of me.

Seems it's lagging, a lot, even with most settings turned low. Well, of course, my GFX card is a bit lower than it should be, but it couldn't be only because of that, right?

I do have DirectX10, latest video/audio/chipset driver builds.

The thing which makes me wonder is that the FPS downage only occurs when I'm playing; if I have a conversation with an NPC, or my menu open, it doesn't lag at all.

Yeah, I've noticed this too. Oblivion and Fallout dynamically allocate resouces. When you're doing something that's not real demanding, you get a lot higher framerate. What kind of specs do you have? And how many FPS are you getting?

Oh, I've already partially managed to increase my FPS. Seems that I've tried changing the theme to Win98, as well as disabling certain things in-game.

I've lowered everything to low though... and I'm not really enjoying the 'unrealistic' looks, in comparison to them, when set to higher quality.

I've got NVIDIA GeForce 6100 nForce 405, and I'm quite suprised that Oblivion was able to run using this graphics card. It ain't supported by Bethesda either. I've also got 1 GB RAM.

I'm guessing you have Vista, then? Only the GeForce 8 series and up supports DirectX 10, though if you have Vista you can, in theory, use it. What kind of CPU do you use? From my experience, Oblivion is very dependent on the CPU to load everything prior to the game's actual loading.

Yes, I'm using Windows Vista, and I do use DirectX10. My CPU is AMD Sempron 3400+, ~1.8 GHz. At least, that's what DXDIAG told me.
