Ever get that microsoft report error screen right after closing down Oblivion? I get it every single time that I exit. I realize it's only happening on exit, but it's still not only annoying, but causes all of my video settings to reset upon the next game load. Anyone have a solution for this problem? If you want to see all of my system specs they are on the first post of the topic in this forum called 'Oblivion and Oscuro's Overhaul'.
I get that too.
When you want to exit oblivion press CTRL ALT DEL to bring up task manager and end Oblivion in order to close it straight away. If this still makes the game crash with the error report screen, which it shouldnt, then your best off contacting the actual makers of the game on there official website of course - they can really help you. Maybe it would help if you did send the error to notify Microsoft aswell?
Well like I said, the crash on exit doesn't really bother me that bad, it just makes it so none of my settings that I change in game get saved when I quit, so I have to keep re-setting them. Just a minor annoyance. I could set them all through oblivion.ini, but I don't know where all of the settings are, nor do I know exactly what values to set them at. But it's alright, as I said, minor annoyance. I've tried sending the report, nothing popped up saying anything about a fix like it sometimes does, so I don't know. Lately it has stopped, because I used a fresh install and used OBMM to load up my mods, so I can figure out exatly what causes any problems I might have.
Funny enough i recently had the problem just after i posted the first message. Randomly, maybe half an hour or less or so in gameplay Oblivion would randomly stop responding. Because my version of oblivion is fake (im from Cyprus fake games are not illegal here btw check for yourselves) maybe that was the cause. Or maybe i had too many mods? My deactivating a few mods, like Phantom Horse Mod for example, solved the problem & went away. You could have a dirty mod somewhere. Try and investigate. This will stop it from crashing and you having to redo your settings all the time. Uncheck a few mods everytime you play to see if it solves the problem. Oh, and i think i heard of a program that diagnoses your mods for faults.
I've started to get this error too, never had it on any of the other times I've played. It must be some sort of conflict b/w MMM, OOO, Fran's, and some of the other small mods that I use as the last time I played I was using OOO 1.3 and 2.X of MMM and not using Fran's at all.
But for the the problem is annoying, some of the times its not just an application crash. I've had the crash also lock my system up which causes me to have to turn the power off. It's the same kind of crash that I've experienced in a few other games where the sound will begin to loop and my screens usually go black, only the screens don't go black this time. In fact, last night when it happened the crash rebooted my computer on it's own as I was going for the power button.
