It's creepy, but in a different way than, say, Doom 3 was. It's like a paranormal-psycic-ghost type of game. Have you ever seen the movie The Ring? The creepy long-haired girl is similar to the girl in F.E.A.R. She just kinda shows up everywhere.

Yeah so there's an army of clone soldiers that are being controlled by a guy named Paxon Fettel. Your team (First Encounter Assault Recon) is sent in to destroy them. There is a cool slow-motion feature that you can use in sticky situations - it gives the appearance that your player has very fast reflexes. I don't want to tell you much more about the story because it will give it away, but I would definitely recommend the game.

I would also strongly recommend to play it at night, alone and with volume turned up.

a lot of people are actually wondering why they are not scared when they play at daylight with TV or music running in the background... those people just don't seem to really wanna get into the game.

I think it's rather presumptive to assume those not scared by FEAR are playing in daylight with TV or music running in the background or don't really wanna get into the game. You should keep in mind that some people just don't scare as easily, especially when much of what they're seeing has already been done in Ring 1 & 2, as well as The Grudge.

Add to that the fact that there is little to no physical confrontation required reguarding the 2 main occult characters in the game, and it becomes rather boring to some. The ghosts in the fire after going through hallway doors were the closest they actually came to scaring me with this game, but only the 1st time through, and I was merely startled at best due to not seeing some of them.

It's actually quite common and one of the main complaints that FEAR's ability to scare players is over hyped.

Personally i found the Marine missions of AVP2 to be the most terrifying game experience! oooh those Aliens. FEAR does have excellent mechanics, the bullet time is very cool, not to mention sweet graphics....

alright maybe i did choose the wrong words... i wasn't scared so much by fear either( i have also seen the ring movies, grudge and dark water, also i almost only play horror games), there were a few moments though when i freaked out for a moment. it just helps the atmosphere to play at night, but i was far more scared when playing games like Silent Hill of course. But you also can't really compare this, FEAR has got great action and an awesome AI, and that alone is worth quite a few replays for SP IMO.

for horror, SH is still my favorite, for Action, it's definately FEAR.
