That's very kind of you to say. Danke muchly! :) As for why my posts sound pleasant, as you've mentioned- well, part of that can be explained by why I can take days or even a couple of weeks to reply, and then post 5 or 6 messages within an hour's span. The reason for that is that I try not to post messages unless I'm feeling reasonably positive and can try to be objective if a given conversation I'm replying to is heated or complex. I usually feel pretty good, and lately that's how it's been more often than not. The other reason for it is that I find being nice is easier- and better- than being a jerk. From the responses I've gotten since I started posting here a few months back, I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks so. :) Once again, ||G||, thank you kindly for your compliments.

Coolness. I'm glad there's been an improvement there; if I'm remembering correctly the 1.0-1.3 patch was my first (the great huge 190MB one, if I'm remembering correctly) patch-up, after finally succeeding in the installation of F.E.A.R. on my rig back in February; and then the 1.4 patch a week or so ago. I haven't played it since patching it (had a nice few scrims in Tribes: Vengeance- on-line, that is- and I'm getting better at it. Not to go too far off-topic, but when I refreshed the serverlist in T:V yesterday there were at least 200 people playing on the Gamespy servers, a lot more than a few months ago.) but I'm planning on continuing further into the game later today, so I'll let you know how that goes for me.
||G|| You are getting a bit spammy in your general forum posting behavior. Please stop.
Crew; Well, just to update, I've finally played my first few games of F.E.A.R. Deathmatch online. Strangely, my admittedly-limited FPS multiplayer experience has served me well, IMHO; I've managed to rank 2nd in a given scrim once and 3rd the other three so far. That may simply be due to the skill of the other given players or just a mess of dumb luck, anyway. :) My favourite map so far has to be the 'Forest' map set in a ravine. I'm really getting very good at sniping with the AMG. Anyhow, that's my two bits. -Worker.

That would be Deadwood, and the weapon you speak of is the ASP. I fell in love with that map too, and the ASP as well.
Here's a little snippet from my Another Day at the Office mp video. It's a 1:26 clip of one of the TDM rounds I had some killing sprees in:
DEADWOOD (25MB Putfile stream) F.E.A.R.'s wild west
>Omen<Modes, I thought there were going to be new maps? Are there any new maps coming?
Dude, there are LOTS of maps! just look at www.fearmaps.com there's a download section with a lot of great maps. i just wish more people would submit their maps here, too.
Lots of mp maps anyway, but how many of them are being used by public servers yet? I got back into a few DM rounds after the 4 days I spent capturing my mp video, while 1.03 was still the current version, and was disapointed to see the same old rehashed maps over and over. There was also lots of lag at the worst possible time, like when trying to shoot the shotgun, etc.
VU is quick to promote map making contests, but from what I've seen as far as server selection goes they'd prefer to just hype of the very few and not often used maps the devs have made, like Spillkill and Deadwood. I like Deadwood, but it and Spillkill are never very busy maps online.
Seems to me they're implying the 3rd party mp maps are for LAN and the developer maps for public use. I fully realize anyone can use the 3rd party maps on their servers, but until VU and others involved in the making of the game INCLUDE the better 3rd party maps in mp content, the trend is going to continue.
You shouldn't have to start your own LAN server to play the better 3rd pary maps online.
You can host the custom made maps on any server you want, online, too. there are already some servers like MyUnreal and NAEA Customs that have custom maps only. but i agree that most servers only have the retail maps, unfortunately, since there are a lot of awesome user created maps out there. If you want to host custom maps (for example from fearmaps.com) online, you just have to open your FEAR user directory and put the Arch00 file in the Custom/AdditionalContent folder, and the maps show up in the map selection screen. it's really extremely easy to host custom maps on a server to play them, it's just a pity most server operators don't use them. And yeah, it would be great if VUG would encourage people to put more custom maps on their servers.
