I bought it. Regretfully. I am a big fan of both FEAR and FEAR EXTRACTION POINT, but Perseus mandate was just not worth the money. With out-dated graphics, no new environmental textures and no (or really new environments in general) The new weapons are pretty much terrible (their quality), and the nightstalkers are nothing new. Not to mention the horror scenes were the same old tricks that no longer scare you. the only new one is when these guys pop out of the ground and grab you.

I am telling you this because I want to give you guys an honest insight to what it is really like. So if you want some great FEAR action, wait till project origin.

You can download the demo here if you don't believe me and want to try it yourself.

So you're saying that the sewers, underground, train yard, mines, cloning facility are not new environments compared to the original fear where you only had factories and office buildings?

Have you even played through all of the game? There are some mini-bosses where they are not your typical replica enemy.

And I also noticed that no one seems to grasp the fact that this is an expansion, so everyone should already expect that the big bold words 'Expansion Pack' on the box should automatically tell you that this is an expansion to the SAME oringinal game.

the trainyard and the mines were new environments, (you come across underground and sewers in fear extraction) but they are still close-proximity dark environments which give you effectively the same feel as all the other environments (even though thats kind of what fear is based off of, I still think the environments could definatley be expanded,) I did like the mines though now that I think about it. Not to mention the graphics haven't improved in these environments.

I still think that they new enemies did not make the game play that much more dynamic, in comparison to something like the hunters in HL2 episode 2.

As for the whole expansion, im going to go back to that half-life 2 episode 2 (which is an expansion), look at the comparison between it and the original half-life 2. It has far better graphics, better firefights and more new dynamic environments and very dynamic enemies and interesting story sequences and more, but I think you get the point that they could have done more.

I am not going to continue arguing after this, but your comments on HL2 episode 2 is utter nonsense.

Okay, this Fear expansion is looking outdated because its 2005 tech, but again, its the same engine because its an expansion meaning expanded content and gameplay, not expanding the tech which is what new games and sequals are for.

I seriously believe people now in days are misunderstanding the meaning of the term 'expansion', because it does not mean new tech and new game alltogether. An expansion does not mean to redefine the game.
