well, when i was 12 or 13 i remember finally facing up to my fears and playing the whole of avp 2 without getting scared (i tried playing through the demo before but never could get to a fight without hitting the escape key). After that i have never got scared by any game ever again, including fear which is just more fun to watch the scary bits than actually get scared  (i even play it with the lights off, sound up and all on my own) the only game that has scared me but is still my favourite and most played game is thief 3, the thief series has so much atmosfear and thief 3:deadly shadows beats 'em all. The shawford crale mission took me three days to win because i was just to scared, it glued me to my seat but made me want to run out of the room screaming lol, it's a shame there is unlikely going to be a thief game ever again :bawl:
im a serrious mapper for F.E.A.R. and D3 but even my own maps scare me i never run screaming it just makes me jump a little but i have to say the F.E.A.R. and D3 are about the same tho id say for story d3 but for just plain scary things F.E.A.R.
It might just be me but i thought FEAR was only scary at the end really. Sure there were some wierd moments in the game but nothing that made me jump or scream. All though i havent played many scary games.:uhm:

Operation Flashpoint, the fear was real. It's a realistic environment and one tiny move can end up killing me. In my opinion Doom 3 or FEAR aren't scary at all. You expect that there are a lot of scripted events and big monsters that are created purposely in an attempt to scare you. I prefer more natural fear.
I've always thought there's a big difference between being startled, and being scared. To be fair, I think it's good to note that some whom have had some real life scares, and have watched a fair amount of horror movies, just aren't going to freak out easily.
I still quite often get startled playing Doom3 when I forget a certain trap or spawn location, but then I haven't played it enough to remember all of them.
I remember how creepy some of the Hellraiser movies were, but making a good horror flick into a game without it turning out like crap is not very common.
There's all kinds of fear though, even the fast paced fragging of online play can get your heart thumping when you get snuck up on.
This game isnt scary at all. Sunday School is scarier than this. The name and the certificate 18 are just advertising ploys. Completed it in 12 hours 40mins or so. Great ending and excellent Ai. Otherwise its the same old stuff. Doesnt come close to Half Life 2 content. Doom3 would give F.e.a.r. a heart attack.
Wow, I guess FEAR would have been scarier if I had never seen the movie the ring. Doom 3, now that made me jump a few times.
its very similar to the ring, im not sure if they could get away with such similarities without asking permission, id like to know if anyone has an idea if they did or not?
i say doom 3 becasue even though ive played it thorugh a hundred times and know where everything is the game still gets me
as for fear... i have yet to be scared by any of the things that are supposed to be scary... the only thing that made my jump was when i was smacking a dead body and then i crouched and hit it and it made a really loud noise. o and i guess the freaky fast invisible things were sorta scary but not when i have slow-mo and my shotty
