After all my FEAR bashing but not actually playing the full game, I'm wondering, is FEAR really any good? I'm looking for a new FPS to test on my upgraded computer [when I get the parts from T-Mas, and install them and it's all dandy. I know it will be.]. I know Farcry will look sweet, and BF2, and Q4, but should FEAR be included in my line up? I read PC Gamer's review and it was a 8/10 with the problems being 1. It's short. 2. It's repititive. 3. When you auto-save it gives you a 2 second lag until it's done, letting you know a big battle is coming. 4. It's more about using slow-mo effectively than any real strategy in shooting/taking cover. I remember the SP demo and from this I can agree with a few points, but most ppl rave about FEAR, and I want to experience it, but I don't know if I should keep waiting for prices to go down on the DVD edition, or I should just buy it now [and perhaps prices never will go down?]? Any advice is appreciated.

Generally you should include as many things (for different variables and situations) in a testing enviroment.. so yes, I think you should include FEAR. Also BF2 is freakin awesome.

Slo mo doesn't last that long( No one says you have to use it) You need to duck and cover...that's what the lean button is for. Or you will get your a$$ handed to you..especially on hard or higher. The AI is just plain wicked... Just buy it..it's only 39.99 ( I have seen it for 29.99)

Actually Half Life 2's AI wasn't all that great. If you're talking about the zombies that jumped all over everything and climbed up stuff, that was mostly scripted. F.E.A.R.'s AI is the best I have ever seen.

FEAR AI is a revolution, they come up with sollutions them selves, walk around you, sneak up on you.. really makes it a good big for the biggest part.

I just got FEAR for Christmas. Beat it in 9 hours. Uninstalled the same day. I like the slowmo a lot, but that's all. And no, it's not scary. 5/10 game. AI is okay, not 'holy sh1t!' good, but alright. And my rig did just fine with it cranked up high. I maxed it all out but for res which I kept at 1024x. I wonder why ppl went [are going] ape sh1t about this game. I think it really blows. Maybe my standards are too high. *Sigh.* $50 down the toilet for 9 hours of toil.
