It’s been more than a month since the SDK was released, and only a tiny sliver of (in my opinion, cruddy) mods have since appeared. I’d like to think there are a good number of developers busily designing up some outstanding single-player mods, but I’m beginning to wonder... Usually weapon mods appear shortly after a games release, SDK or no, due to the relative ease in popping these files out. Yet this hasn’t happened with F.E.A.R. You might say that weapon mods are moot since a handful of weapon codes can be keyed into the game, but this never stopped folks from tinkering something together in the past. Nor does there seem to be much talk about F.E.A.R. these days, so what’s the truth of the matter? What is happening in the F.E.A.R. community?

I imagine that it is mainly due to people getting bored with the same 3-4 maps in the cycle, and the cheating taking place. I know that when I blast somebody dead-on with the particle weapon, then dump a clip of assault rifle ammo into them and they don't die, while killing me with a quick burst from the assault rifle as I'm at 100 health and 60 armor, well, thats enough to cause me to say, f_ _k this, I'm out here and back to HL2, CS, or COD2. Until they get an anti-cheat system in place and resolve the health pack issue where people can carry a boatload of ammo packs, I won't be playing much multiplayer. I imagine that FEAR was probably a pretty popular christmas present for many, and as they finish up with the single players, they'll be checking out MP. So perhaps in the coming days, you'll see more people out there.

Perhaps it's because the SDK is so difficult to use.
