=TanK=I'm running Dual 512MB 7900GTX and the game looks beautiful.

I don't doubt it, the new 7950GX2s also look very nice, and are priced pretty well. It will be interesting to see how soon they will have Quad SLI support for them.

It seems the jury is still out on how well Vista and DX10 will work though, not to mention whether they'll have them ready by the planned release date.

My favorite graphics card? Hmmmm.... Well I was most pumped when I bought my Orchid Righteous 3D, my first (the first) 3D accelerator worth a damn. :)

I also really like my current Radeon X800GTO2. Why? Cuz it overclocks well above a $200 more expensive X850 XT PE. And yah, that means it runs FEAR quite nicely.

I just got me a 7600 GT and It plays alot better than my 6600 GT even at 1024*768 High quailty and 2 AA 16 AFI still get much better frames than my old card at 10*7 Med settings and no AA.

What did you pay for it?

I'm holding out for a DX10 version of the 7950GX2, but only after the Quad SLI drivers have been enabled, all the bugs in it, DX10, and Vista have been worked out, and the prices come down. That may not be until end of '07. Hopefully they will start ducting the coolers better on those cards too, more like the ones on the X1900XTX so the exhaust exits the back of the case.

I paid 50 dollars! :P With the retrun of my 6600 GT becuase It died in a thunderstrom and I told the card just stoped working and they gave all the cridit that I paid for my 6600 GT. :D I could of goten a 7900 GT for 70 dollars more but I wanted to get a game instead. But I hear that I can easily Oc a 7600 GT to 7800 GT speeds.

BTW are they making DX 10 versions of 7950s!? I thought the G80s and R600s will be the frist cards to use DX 10?

You mean $50 plus what you paid for the 6600.

I'd have gone for the 7900.

Eventually there will no doubt be a DX10 GX2, or something similar. I never said it would be the first, in fact I said I'd rather wait for low prices and stability.

None of this really concerns me right now though, I'm trying to get over the shock of having just heard AMD is buying ATI. Just when I was planning to go back to AMD they pull this bone head stunt. If stuff like this keeps happening I'm going to quit gaming.

I freaked out when I heard that as well. But, we can hope if nothing else that AMD will improve ATI. If nothing else still allow us to use nvidia chipsets.

Is AMD even doing so well lately? Already you can get an AM2 64 X2 5000+ for $310. The performance increase from tests results of AM2/DDR2 have been minimal at best. I tend to wonder if this merger is going to be a case of the blind leading the blind. Both these corporations have been quick to change hardware design without much reguard for driver optimization.

I read more into that whole merger acquisition thing, and I'm a little upset about the whole thing. I am a die-hard Nvidia fan, and for AMD to have come so far in repairing there own negative cash flow situation, and bouncing back to take such a large chunk of Intel's business. Now just to buy out a company that posted earnings below there projections, and with customer reviews to only support why. Well I can certainly hope that AMD can repair ATI like they repaired there wn negative image. Who knows optimistically looking maybe this is good news for ATI customers.
