I'm DLing it now, though from Gamershell, as Filefront's Fearfiles.com site you linked to was streaming at less than half the speed. When you're paying for high speed internet the last thing you want to put up with is a 1 hour download that you can do elsewhere in under a half hour.
I'll let you know what I think of it AFTER I play it. Been enjoying my new Sennheiser HD555 headphones playing Resurrection of Evil lately, the Doom3 expansion. I plan to use them on Extraction Point too, can't wait to hear how that chaingun and the resulting carnage sounds with them.
I didn't make it!
I'm too lazy to download it as for it will take all night becuase my internet connection is ass. I soo wanna play FEAR EP although I hear that the graphics are just the same as the oringal FEAR.

Well, look at it this way, the graphics weren't really what needed improvement. More weapon, enemy and environment variety were, which they're promising to deliver. Along with that there are going to be more destructible environments. Still haven't played the demo yet, though it took me only about 20 minutes to DL it. I'm going to finish up my run through Resurretion of Evil then check it out. I'll let you know what I think of it.;)
i started to play it, i was happy till the blood room then it turned me off i liked the ghosts but ok if i can bash them with my gun a bullet ot to do the same.
Played it,...make that, suffered through it last night, and immediately went back to playing Resurrection of Evil. This demo is so glitchy and laggy I can't see anyone reguarding it as a good advertisement to give them incentive to buy it. Even guys with X1900XTs have reported terrible lag in some spots. This is further proof that the guys making and publishing this game don't care about how the sp campaign runs on most systems. The majority of the patching has been for mp.
I tried lowing virtually every setting auto detect came up with to Med (most were Max), Min, or Off (Soft Shad/Vol Lights). Took the utterly ridiculous 4x AF suggested down to Trilinear, still the area with the guys rappelling down ropes was bad enough to feel like SlowMo was engaged. The rest of the demo wasn't exactly lag free either, even with the settings compromised so much. This gets my vote for worst demo of 2006 so far.
yeah i have a x1900xt and i got terrible lag in the blood room but fear is a ram hog so what do you expect. I never got any lag at any other part. Omen what are your specs?
Mine: Amd 4400+ X2 1 gb corsair xms ram radoen x1900xt 250 hdd
Monolith stills knows how to scare the shit out of you. I think it was the best demo of year
Mine are 3GB P4 CPU, X800XT, and 1GB RAM. OK, This is gonna sound weird, and I still can't explain it, but I went through several test runs literally from the ground up starting at way low settings and res, then bumped them up a notch at a time and am at pretty good visuals and performance now. I was even able to not only play the whole demo with shadows on and set to Med, I recorded it at those settings too. There's no point in enabling shadows unless you use Med, as you won't get any model or weapon shadows that way. Objects still cast them fine with Shadows off though. I couldn't resist trying to fine tune the settings as the model shadows really add to the creep factor.
OK, enough said, judge for yourself how the graphics and smoothness of frame rate look in this video. It's not terribly long as I skipped all the non action parts. For those of you whom are interested in knowing I am using the latest Omega driver, which is a Cat 6.7 equivalent. I can also post all the in game settings I'm using if anyone wnats to know. Part of the reason I committed to this project was that I felt I owed a bit of credit to the creation of the expansion and the demo. My first reaction was a bit harsh, though not exactly out of tune with what others are saying. Most are finding it to be noticably more resource hungry than the original.
Hopefully this will be an opportunity for those of you whom have net connections too slow to DL a 500+MB demo to see some of it's content as well. This video is only about 15% that size at 80MB and pretty much showcases eveything in it except for a couple brief interludes, one showing Alma the other could possibly be Fettel or Harlan Wade.
