(this is a repost from another section of the forums) hey, y'all. i actually enjoy the game, but i've run into a major issue. first i started getting the green 'disco ball' effect, especially with the flash light on (geometric green flashes all over wall and floors.) now, i'm getting these weird moire patterns on all surfaces, and the lighting is fukt, i can see everything = no suspense. my specs: Athlon 64 4000+, 1Gig RAM, dual 6600 GT video cards on SLI i feel like my machine should be raging on this game, with everything maxed out. i put on the 1.02 patch before i even played. these problems are occuring now at Interval 8. wtf!?! any help would be greatly appreciated. also, if i reinstall game, will i lose my progress? i don't want to replay half the game before the end

my opinion is it might be the update_102 maybe it's your grahics card you might have overclocked it and fucked the core up emmm maybe the drivers has above what he said might be the proplem try and install it again and play other games on it and give it a direct X display diagose,

i updated to the 81.85 drivers before i loaded the game. nothing is overclocked. i did do a 'force 8x shaders', which helped somewhat. it got rid of the patterns but i'm still getting glitchy flickery lighting. another other ideas? as to other games, F.E.A.R. played quite nicely for at least six hours. so again, wtf!?!

You should try other forums. These ones suck. Hard.

if you have a suggestion as to which forum to try, i'm all ears. after some more poking around, i'm beginning to think that this game doesn't work too well with the SLI-enabled motherboards. it keeps telling me i don't have enough video card memory to run above medium settings. screw that. this system tore up HL2 and Doom3 like Gordon Freeman's crobar. anyone else running on a dual card system?

CONCLUSION: i just finished the game. odd ending, but it was better than that ____ at the end of Doom3! as far as SLI is concerned: the skinny is that FEAR is supposed to automatically adjust its game profile to fit an nvidia SLI system. sometimes this works. sometimes it works for ____. nvidia hasn't worked out all the conflicts. i basically had to play on one viedo card, which sucks donkeyballs. sierra tech support told me to install the 81.95 drivers in safe mode, then restart in regualr gold old XP. worked for ____. and sounds like hoodoo ____. i couldn't figure out where the conflict lies, definitely a problem with volumetric lighting effects, though.
