I am having a big problem, i just recently bought the game because i finally re-built my computer and is now sweet. So i install the game, and it then ask me if want to update the game to the newest version, i click yes, it installs, and then the game tries to open, and Windows says FEAR has stopped working and will be closed. Ive tried re-installing fear and the update, but it just wont work. I am running on an AMD Athlon 64x2 2.00GH, 2GB G.Skill RAM, and Nvidia GE Force 8series card 256MB, and windows vista, could it possibly be that the game will not run on vista? Please help me! i love this game! and i dont want to play it for xbox anymore!!

i re-installed fear, and manually installed each version by itself, one by one, after each one installed, i ran the game to see if it worked, i got to the 8th and final patch version, and thats when fear stopped working.... and also, does fear not support a wide screen resolution? some suggestions or help would be great

I believe all you need is the 1.08 patch.

I forget whether this is "all inclusive " or not.

Had a similar issue, was never able to patch FEAR nor install the expansion packet. reason for me, i partitioned my main drive and i had FEAR installed on the wrong drive -- the game needs to be on your MAIN drive in-order to install a patch or the expansion packet.. well, at least for me.. finally got it all to work once i installed everything on the MAIN drive..

i have a amd 64 x2 5600 4 gigs ram x1300 gfx card vista with a widescreen and it worx like a dream, it is not vista, nor your gfx card nor the screen. i don't play with the updates. all you required was the last patch because it would be cumulative. or just don't use patches, that's what i do (except for far cry). well make sure you got the most recent drivers for the widescreen and also reinstall fear (sorry i know it takes a while) and install all the updates but the 8th or Don't install them at all, the end. sorry i seem like the bearer of bad news.
