Seems strange that one feature could knock 40fps off...I have no idea what to say.

soft shadowing is really hard for PC's, but yours is pretty good.......soft shadowing makes it unplayable on mine

For your PC that is not normal. I have a 6800 128MB and there is no difference between it on and off for me. I also am running AMD 2600+ and 512 MB of Kingston

Maybe some software problem or a hardware conflict...Dunno really. See if you can get in touch with Monolith or VU and ask them.

Soft shadows does that for my comp, too. I think it basically doubles the shadows, adding a lighter shadow around the darker shadow. Or it could be more complex than I realise. P4 3.0 GHz ATi Radeon X800 XT 1 gig RAM And I know it isn't my system, cause although it isn't super high-end, it doesn't suck. So soft shadows deteriorates performance. That's my conclusion. Pfft, it even says that it does when you turn it on ^_^"
