That's a question for the modding and editing board, most of us here except for maybe Capt Am don't know squat about modding.

The extent of my modding has been with COD & COD2, but only simple stuff like removing the HUD, changing the iron sights FOV to eliminate the zoom and putting the muzzle flash added to the MG42s on someone's mod back to the default for more realism. He added an unrealistic looking radiating fixed star pattern to it that many didn't like. I still don't understand why with such a simple change as eliminating the iron sights zoom I started seeing artifacts. Perhaps it was that I was modding someone elses mod and it somehow made it unstable.

I was excited at first to learn about modding and enjoyed using PakScape, but after the artifacts started showing up I gave up on it out of fear and frustration. It suddenly felt like I was getting in over my head, as I'm sure it does with many starting out. As well I lack the computer skills to back it up with any confidence or ability to adapt to it like some can.

Well, the Source (HL2, CSS) engine seems to be much more moddable than Far Cry.

Too bad they couldn't make HL2 run smoother though. All that talk for months on end how any system could handle it and even a $2000+ system stutters like crazy playing it. Mods and custom maps of HL2 play even worse, lots of crashing to desktop too.

The way I see it Valve is good at game concept, but horrible at implmenting it technically.

HL2 source is great but is it easy to use? without garry's mod. thought so. also can u creat huge environments in minutes with it? I dont think so.

FC is the easiest to map for IMO. Modding is a bit different. It's easier to mod for Source but FC is a close second. But some of the ways to have to get your mod accomplished are very rigid and the utter lack of official materials of advanced modding aside, it is a very compatible and easy to use engine once you get your hands on the proper tutorials.

@Omen: I've not ever "modded" for Farcry. I've made a lot of maps, a sound pack and the DMPs. I'm working a new mod, Envy, but that's definetly not for the CE 1.
