Hfx_RebelI agree.
Hey Hfx, is it true that Filefront used to have some European servers, and if so, any chance of them starting that up again?
FF still does, currently, theres a 150 slot server open to Europeans, it seems to me that there may have been more, but this is something I never paid attention to.
As for getting more, thats a good question. I don't know, but everything in the corporate world works on supply and demand

So there's just the one Euro server then? Every time I access a file for download the only server designations listed are "FileFront US Hosted Distro #xx".
Is this because only people logging in from Europe can see the Euro server on the list? If so, I'm assuming it's contained in a list of mostly US servers, the Euro one being designated somethng like "FileFront EU Hosted Distro #xx" maybe?
Anything I can tell those trying to access them from overseas might help. I've only heard one person say they saw a Euro server, and he said it used to be available, as if it's either no longer on the list, on not designated as such.
I know what you mean by supply and demand though. I keep trying to tell those complaining that it doesn't really make sense for FF to offer more, when they already offer the most. Nobody has a service that is fast worldwide, especially with such few restrictions.;)
Just taking a quick look at the FileFront server list, it shows a Euro server, and a world server;
I have no way of knowing anything about the download/upload times, I'm fastpasser myself, and I live in N.America, but I can't imagine they would be all that bad....outside of peak time, of coarse.

What link did you access that server list from btw? I don't ever recall seeing any such servers listed, maybe it's because you are a Fastpass member, but then why would they only show on the free public servers list?
I keep telling them the very slow speeds they are experiencing, we're talking very slow at times, well under 20kbps, might be due to maintenance. Some seem to think it's always slow for them though.
It's common for peak DL speeds (peak speed, not peak traffic time) to be in the 40kbps range for those overseas from what I've seen reported.
I just went into FileFront using the link at the top left corner of the FN sites, then just picked a file to download. If you look near the bottom of the list, you'll see that I wasn't logged into Fastpass. I don't have an answer as to why the Euro downloads are slow, just ideas why they are not fast. (Remember, I'm filesNetwork staff, not FileFront.) Have any of these people sent an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to see if they can get an answer?

I doubt it, they tend to give up totally on it after their initial reaction. Thing is though, like I said, they nit pick, but they never come up with any better hosting alternatives for worldwide access.
Some have talked about offering to host them, but nothing ever comes of it. I don't think a lot of people realize how expensive such things can get, especially if your website is high bandwidth, and none of the free webspace I've seen is worthwhile for such things.
Hmmmm, I just thought of something, could it be there is more of a chance that at least one server on the list will be Euro if it's a file I have submitted to Filefront, rather than just uploaded to my filepage? (EDITED)
By Joe I think I've found it! I just checked all the files I've submitted to Filefront, and so far every one of them has both a Euro AND World server on the download list.
Now I'm going to go back to the forum I suggested a game movie forum be added to, which consists mostly of European members, and see if they can DL any of those files quicker.
Spread the news, Filefront is still the best!!!:bows:  :nodding:
Yes. After this is Gamecloud.com. I'm still surprised that FF has been around for so long. I remember when I never knew of FF [I was a Fileplanet.com freak before it got all slick and laggy] existed till one of my dls directed me here. FF really is very good. When did FF start up? 1990? Hfx_Rebel, do you know? We should have FF birthday parties and special file releases then, it'd be cool.
yes i found it while looking for cheats(i know... im scum (lol)) but ive never seen it or even tryed it.
