Well I cant run the game at Ultra settings becuase it laggs like hell but when I put set the settings to high with 4xAA it runs okay however there are a few cases were the FPS are below 20. I'm using the patch v1.3 with the HDR but I dont enable HDR becuase it looks like ass. These are my spec: Intel mobo Pentuim 4 3 GHz 1 GB PC-3500 Geforce 7 GT 256 mb And I play at 1024x768 4xAA(ingame) 16AF (driverforced) at high settings and I get about 45 FPS avrage outdoors. I know I should be getting better results becuase this game is like 3 years old and I could play newer games like FEAR at max settings at that res. :uhm:

At that res, but at those AA and AF settings? Looks to me most of your FPS drop is coming from your insisting on using 16xAF, which is very demanding in a high texture game like Far Cry. Try going to 8x AF, chances are the difference in visual quality will be undetectable with the naked eye and only minimal using the binocs at long range.

Other than that the usual obvious rules apply, update drivers, patches, defrag and turn off background progs.

I could play FEAR at 16AF at 2xAA @ 1024x768 with max settings.

Not to be stating the obvious, but FEAR is a different game and a different engine all together. Like as stated above, extra settings like AA and AAF will KILL your FPS if you're not prepared to take that hit in terms of performance.

Well not that it would make as much difference as 8x vs 16x AF, you DID say above that you were using 4x AA, now you say 2xAA, which is it, and was it the same for each game?

"I play at 1024x768 4xAA(ingame) 16AF (driverforced)"

Such things CAN make a difference, same settings means same setings, not almost the same.;)

I can play FEAR at 4xAA but some levels get laggy so I play at 2xAA in FEAR to be on the safe side in Far cry playing at 2xAA and 4xAA dosent take a hit untill I play at Ultra settings.

I think what you are not realizing is that 45FPS ave outdoors is not bad with that level of card, especially at 4xAA & 16xAF using Ultra water detail. If that's NOT with Ultra and you dip to like 35 with Ultra on, I would go to 8xAF, like I said. It's very hard to tell the difference between 8x & 16x AF.

Though your card is very good, it certainly aint no 7900, and it definatley can't handle the large texture loads like the 7900GTX 512MB can. None the less for what it's priced at you got a pretty good card to hold you over until your next upgrade. Just keep in mind that it's not going to be the be all end all at well under $200.;)
