ther are mutants what, wha...but... I though it was just mercenaries, no now I'm too scared to play it anymore, I keep dying on the first level, how am I gonna deal with mutants oh nooo, it doesn't say anything about mutants on/in the case/manual no, this so unfair, I bought a game for comabt with mercenaries, not battling mutants, ahhh this ucks, I am so scared, I am gonna be playing really carefully now, it is gonna ruin me, I will be goin atoo careful for fear of mutants springing on me, someone tell me what level whereabouts they come, so I can beless paranoid earlier on
You just need to be careful, and always aim for the face/head. A lot of the time you'll take em out quick.
CragratI just found farcry soooooooo unbelievably stupidly hard. I tried stealth, running in guns blazing, sniping etc... and this was on easy!!! Has anyone out there actually completed it on the hardest level? I'm sorry ubisoft but making games harder isn't the way forward. It's just annoying.
Assuming this is not a prank post, as it does tend to sound a bit absurd, you can always practice on the pigs, and work your way up.:D Seriously though, I've listed some videos below to give you options once you get your game face on, the pig one (Mouthy mercs) is just for fun. BTW, keys to stealth are first using binocs to "tag" the enemy before approaching within assault rifle range, and watching for their location on the mini map, color coded to show level of awareness, with directional pointers to show direction they're facing. The SMG is quieter by far than the M16. You also have an endless supply of rocks to distract the enemy with, and stay crouched and/or prone when near them. You can also snipe through leaves and grass by equiping the CryVision goggles. Using a good sound card and speakers, with the music turned off, gives you a good idea of how much sound you yourself are making as you stalk or sneek past the enemy, even brushing into bushes can alert them, but they are more sensitive when already taken out of the green alertness mode. Some alternatives to running in with guns blazing are good use of vehicles and long range weapons, which you'll see in the vids. If you have any particularly annoying trouble spots you'd like to see other videos of, let me know. Believe it or not, even Volcano can be played with stealth and little damage on Realistic mode. that's exactly what i do. tips for the FPS game noobs: in farcry:
use binoculars whenever you have them. in the dark, pull them up [i use q] every 30 feet.
like other games, the assault rifles are often times just as good as the sniper rifle. use the sniper rifles's scope to find the enemies, [or binocs] and then semi-auto shots to the target. you may only see bits of the target if it's really far away, or not at all, but you can kill from really far away with M4 or OICW and especially G36 [double-zoom].
headshots headshots headshots. for trigens, for mercs, for everything but bigboys [nasty mofos with RL for an arm], because they don't have damage zones.
burst firing. like CS, burst firing can be very very effective. not full-auto-empty-the-clip bursting, but 10-15 round bursts and you can still keep 80% of the shots with in a 12 inch box. crouched. aim at feet. do some practice with it.
ammo conservation. personally i use the pistol whenever i'm indoors, or the p90. i nearly always have 200 + rds for the assault rifle. weapon uses: pistol: indoors, close quarters battles, should be treated as a prim weapon shotty: indoors, very CQBs, NOT on high-level mercs, as they have body armor. very good on trigens. mp5: stealth weapon. weaker than p90. but silence is good. p90: very good smg. close-medium ranges. long reload so make sure of your shots. M4: good for all ranges but i reccommend long-far range. i never really use full auto, as i can get the shots out just about as fast. very loud. OICW: grenade function is basically useless. its easy to master for large crowds, but does jack if someone has BA [body armor]. most powerful bullets. inaccurate at bursting. G36: double-zoom for long-far sniping. king of burst firing. a 15 round burst in the head to a bigboy is best. watch the ammo, it goes fast. grenade laucher is good for unarmored foes and trigens. SniperRifle: powerful zoom. kinda weak shots. head shots don't always kill. i use the sniper rifle for the zoom and then pick off the target with a M4 or G36. if i have 10+ rds, i'll use them. good for shooting patrol boats or helicopter door gunners. [fast on the move, no time for weapon switching] RL: i despise the weapon. slow projectile, not really powerful. [should be 2x more powerful] slow reload. good for barrel explosions, distracting enemies, choppers, dropships [aim for engine wing] and big trucks. of course, watch the blast radius. [this ain't quake] Para: the ultimate gun. lots of ammo. really accurate on single shots are long range. long reload, takes 3 or 4 seconds. i think it's the sadist's choice for mercs, but i can see the uses with multiple enemies. Machette: when you got no ammo [shouldn't ever happen.] or need that stealthy kill. [i wish you could drag away the enemies like SOF2 or Theif3] don't underestimate the knife. be really, really quiet in your approach to the AIs. inch closer very slowly from behind or be right in front of them when they have their rifles slung [not enough time to get them out if your rush them]. Grenades: good for causing distractions, blowing up vehicles, large groups of enemies. the hand grenade is far, far more powerful than than underslung assault rifle launchers. if you're good you can throw them through windows, around corners, etc. Flashbangs: good for blinding the enemy. as well as you, if you're not careful. throw it, wait for the 'poom' then rush in. SmokeGrenades: i've never found any use for them. it doesn't make it too hard for the mercs to see you and once they do, they all rush through the smoke to get at you. does jack for concealing you from the trigens.

BTW, I really was just being sarcastic about the forum crashing and losing me the post I'd written you, I know it's not likely your fault, or anyone's for that matter, it was just a bit of humor reguarding your "I practically run this place" sig. Right now I'm working on a video of Boat. I just finished the last two thirds of it, featuring two glider rides, but I may go back and add tower 1, and make it an entire level video.
