FarCry x64 AMD patch, 1.32: AMD 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ 1024MB Corsair XMS 400 WD 150GB 16MB Raptor 10000 2x NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT SLI wXP Pro x64 Edition Forceware GURU3D 84.21 WHQL x64 only for 6 and 7 series

This was allready posted with a different sympthome...

I have a corrupted zip archive: levels\cooler\level.pak\terrain\cover.ctc

QUESTION:Is it wise to just delete the file?

Or would that just mean I am deleting a whole texture/object reference? This file only seems to be corrupted with a virus scan.

The game works fine for me until it just shuts down with either a blue screen of death(nv4 pagefile error), or the game crashes when a checkpoint/save has been reached/a cinematic begins or wants to begin.

Is the file responsible sometimes for these unstable moments? The cause of problems? It seems to be disputed.

It is unwise to delete system files, whatever the reason unless you have a modded file that acts as the said deleted file. But in this case, a corrupted file, you have little choice.

I don't want to make a definitive answer to your question of whether that specific file is causing all your problems, but it's a probable source. Once you neutralize the problem it would be one less thing to rule out at least.

Solutions: A. Contact Ubisoft for assistance B. Get a duplicate copy of this file to replace the damaged one

I can do B. for you, if you give me a few days, but other members might be able to do it sooner for you.

I have the same problem/corrupeted file/system as Bandicoot, except slightly different hardware. And Captain Amerika, I have looked and cannot find those files as you said to do in my thread... except Far Cry doesn;t launch at all for me...see my other thread as my problem is still not solved... http://forums.filefront.com/showthread.php?t=260109

Sorry for the late response. I would indeed appreciate a good duplicate to try and solve this problem. Thank you for this.

Darkside did you get any wiser from maybe contacting UbiSoft?

I opened up my level.pak to extract the cover.ctc file for you and mine is corrupt too! But my game still works fine, cooler level included. I don't know how to help you, but I wonder why you have problems and I don't....So sorry, I tried.

Thanks for trying! I myself begin to think the problem is somewhere else. Memory possibly. Though without the AMDx64patch, when farcry still is a 32bit version there were never any problems. What should I do: contact ubisoft and the ones who made the 64bit patch? Or just contact UBISOFT and see what happens?

Why I did not contact them yet is for a simple reason. I had a bad experience with their customer service. I will have to push that aside I guess.

These are the best forums besides here

ubisoft.com/forums/farcry/technicalhelp crymod.com/gendisc

Besides these forums and patching to the latest patches, I can only suggest a re-install of FC altogether.

I don't understand why my file is corrupt also, but I don't experience any problems like you're having. You have my sympathy.
