When I try to play Farcry the game keeps freezing on me. If I wait for 10 to 45 seconds it will unfreeze. My PC does not lock up.

I have a AMD XP 2600

1 1/2 gig of ram

256 mb Xtsy 9200 ATI Video card (same thing as the Raidon 9200)

I had this problem out of the box, so I try the newest patch and the samething happens. I can run Call of Duty 2, Medal of Honor Pacific and Allied Assault just fine. I see nothing so far in Farcry that makes me think it would demand more then those games. Anyone else have this problem?

What brand of RAM are you using? What are your FarCry settings?

9200 is not the best of cards, you know.

yeah i have an amd 2200+ 512 megs kingston pc3200 ram, a gigabyte ga7vaxp mobo, and a radeon 9700 pro agp 8x, an d this game use to work fine for me, but recently ive been tryign to play it and its not working, the screen freezes up, and it seems liek i use to get this same problem SOMETIMEs, but i would get a ATI vpu recovery notice also, so im thinking maby the radeon drivers need to be reset back to older ones, maby.. ive tried this game on low settings, and high settings, and no matter what, it still freezes up. im currently working on finding a solution to the problem, but i beleive it lies with the radeon drivers.

First you say you have 1.5 gig memory, now it's 512 mb. Which is it?

What driver version are you using? If you're certain it's a driver problem, you might want to contact ATI for your 9700. If you have older driver versions for the card and they work better, ok, but your other games like COD would prolly work better with the newer versions, so you gotta test those older ones out and see if you see any performance hits in your other games.

Common Reasons for Freeze/Lockup in games: 1. Computer overheating [anything beyond 110'F could be dangerous] 2. Over-Clocking. Unless you know 100% what you're doing, don't. 3. Computer doesn't have enough power to compute [need better PSU] 4. Videocard can't keep up with needs of game [lower the settings; 9700 is pretty old] 5. Memory is slow or there isn't enough of it [1 gig is great, 512 not so much]

See what you can eliminate from the list... Good luck. :)

I just bought the game now and installed. First it freezes on the main menu. Then after starting it again I'm able to play through to the first save point. When I tried to save, it froze so I ended the task again. Tried again and got about 10 feet away from the little house where the save point is before it froze again. My computer does not freeze at all and is able to play games like Crysis/Warhead with no issues whatsoever.

Intel Q6600 @ 3GHz 4GB Patriot Extreme Performance PC2-6400 DFI Lanparty P35 UT 2x Geforce 9600GT's

I do not have any heat issues, CPU tops around 36*C and about 47*C for graphics.
