Greetings:

This isn't a "recruiting post" per-se and it isn't intended to be spam for IWZ. It's spam for the FH Community in general, of which, I consider a few of the FH clans major contributors, recipients and benefactors and of course, being this is *the* FH forum, we cannot forget all of the developers that read this forum. I'm opening a 64 player FH server with Map Pack 6. Server name: Forgotten Hope FH .7 MP6. This server will be "by the community, for the community." It will be ran on a dual xeon machine, 2 gigs of ram on an 8 backbone network located in the mid-west U.S. It has the horsepower and the location for a good ping across the U.S. This project isn't intended to cross bounderies, it's meant to build bridges. We're not competing against any FH tourny. We're attempting to create an "every day" environment to enjoy FH battle. We're not looking for new members for our community, especially if it means other clans would lose players. This has little to nothing to do with *me*. The server will be going up based on the input I receive from the community and not on my own thoughts or opinions. It will eventually be admin'd by various FH Community Members, not just IWZ members. This server is intended as a "non-denominational" FH server. Meaning: It's not clan oriented and the FH community in general will have input toward rules and how the server is ran. I am soliciting input from clans that I am familiar with. Considering the most popular FH servers out there and how they're ran, I think it's high-time the players of the game had an input toward the server rules, etc. rather than being dictated by a single entity or clan. Forgive me for not knowing the website addresses to many clans. However, I figured posting here would catch the remaining clans I am familiar with. I'm not seeking contributions. It's 100% free. There's a couple questions I would like to ask: What rules would you want to see implemented? What game server settings do you want to see? What maps do you want to see as the "base" map list? (We're gonna be taking requests for maps during gameplay). What do you think about Armor Camping in the enemy main uncapturable base? What do you think about spawn camping a capturable spawn? Do you think a server such as this should be n00b friendly or should simply cater to the dedicated FH player that has skill? What's the maximum PING we should allow? I'll be checking back to see what you have to say. Feel free to ask questions as well. I'll be happy to answer.

1. Well pretty much no total baseraping/camping, arty and bombing is allowed though in main bases. 2.Nordwind, Supercharge, Seelow Heights, Operation Goodwood, The Storm, I'll think of a few more 3. I would say firing a few shells into a base, just to keep the enemies' heads down is okay, or if someone is firing from the main, firing back in defense is okay, but not just sitting there and killing things just because you can. Of course there would be the problem of deciding where self defense turns into raping, you would need responsible admins for that. BTW I'd be happy to start being one if you need it. 4. Spawncamping should be allowed in capturable bases. 5. Well, you said it should be an everyday server, so don't kick for noobs that are just figuring out how to play. Of course it shouldn't be a slaughter for them either, it should give the noobs a chance. 6. Ping, would probably be for the max, 200. I usually get around 20-50 ping but sometimes I get huge lag spikes and it gets me kicked from some servers.

You're too quick for me Colonel! I made a couple edits to the 130th's input on this server. Please recheck the post for alterations. It's cool you have your ear to the ground with the community before the server even goes live. I'm looking forward to the experience your server will provide.

Get rid of the auto PTK! Its an auto-pilot for poorly admined servers.

The PTK and THEIR explanation I get from "other" server admins is somewhat of a mystery. In game the other night, a particularly popular server, an admin made the statement: "...when PTK by default was off, people would type PTK in console. when PTK is on by default, people don't know how to FTK."

PTK may be turned off as well as increased spawn time and friendly fire kick back. If you turn off PTK by default, you can also change how the FTK works. You may auto-ptk, manually ptk, no-ptk or auto-ftk (not punish at all).

I believe that the punish should occur, however, I don't really think the extra time added to spawning is good. The negative score occurs whether PTK by default is on or off. When you TK, you hurt your team. And? Should everyone suffer because of a TKer? Perhaps not, but the TKer deserves punishment. So.... turn off the delayed spawning, leave the negative score in? That at leasts doesn't hurt the team by putting a player in the penalty box for "X" amount of time but it still hurts the team and the player by losing points.

Once a player tk's "X" many times or gets to "-N" points, they're kicked, in my opinion, as it should be. Delayed spawn times? I don't think that's the answer.

When folks type: FTK please!!!! in the game chat, when you do FTK in console, you're not giving them back their points. No, they still receive the -2 for the tk and that won't change. The only thing they're getting is less spawn time. I say this because I seriously think there's lots of people out there that think they get their points back. You immediately get -2 for TK's, whether your teammate FTK'd or not.

Go without any type of punishment for TKs? LOL! No chance in hell. Sorry folks, that's not an option. When you do that, you might as well turn off friendly fire damage and completely noobify a server. Ain't gonna happen. I want and I think the majority of the community wants, a challenging server. There's no challenge in a "no friendly fire" atmosphere.

I think Team Killers should be given a listening ear, a hug and some FTD flowers. Perhaps they are just "socially challenged." WHO ARE WE TO JUDGE?!

-2. Not the time. Its bad when you loose the flag because someone missed the short bus & decides its your fault he got runover after he runs directly in front of you while your shooting. Especialy when he practicaly jumps over you to do it. LOL Sound familiar ANYONE!?:naughty: Make it where you have to type in the PTK.
