What is this I read? All these people complaining about bots in games, what do you think any sp game is all about? There is a whole new terrain to explore here, namely who can produce the best bot,or maybe a hybrid bot/person is better(like the aiming aids in some sims (flightsims as wel as strategy games like the rainbow six series etc.) This is a nescesary step in the devellopment of AI. why not open an all bot server for those people? we have robotwars on tv,now it's time for vr robot wars on the internet,,seems like fun to me,especially as these bots get more advanced(smarter). :deal:

Well considering the fact that in SP the bots are tamed down, Alot, Plus the fact normally when people say boys they mean Auto-Aimers they move, while the "bot" aims for the enemy and even fires if the person wants it to me, the combo of a player moving a the computer aiming is almost a unstoppable force, that is if they are a good player to start with. Plus Half the time if they are auto-aimers they also are wall hackers and everything else. Why not open a server for just "bot" users? why would they want to play on a even playing field? they play verus non-cheaters to make themself feel better about themself. They don't want a fair game, thats why they downloaded the cheating device in the first place. And how did you get from talking about AI bots and such to Tv Robot wars? good show none the less, but what does that have to do with anything?

I fail to see the connection between AI and robot wars since the "robots" in robotwars are remote controled:uhm:

And those robots don't even use basic stuff like miniguns, rocket launchers, tactical nukes ect. What's the point in that show?

I didn't say that the robots in robotwars are smart I said it is time for the next step because rightnow these robots and the internet bots have a lot in common most of them are remote controlled, just like the robots in RW,and I think it's time that these "bots" got "smarter" more autonomous so they will be able to "copy" a human player. What I would realy like to know how far developped this technology is rightnow. Or is there no real advancement in this area?

I am sure we they can already make human like AI, the problem is ever using it, I am sure when it comes to a game like bf1942 and you have 50+ bots running around or whatever it would take a hell of a CPU to run all of those who have very advanced AI

That's the point there is no point in that show.

just as there is no point in the "netbots" at this time, this is why I suggest what i said in the article. But for that to realy get of the ground you need a lot of people who are willing to put their bots through its pases and ofcourse make an effort to make them "smarter" and more autonomous. But untill now only one reaction gave me a real answer to the question,a bot,,WHY not?

Why not just One AI?

that should be enough, but are these AI's you refer too capable of "learning" about strategies, and can they learn from their "mistakes? I admid I don't know a lot about the scientific advancements in this area, that's why I started of with the question WHY not. I just didn't get this aversion against bots, you've answered my question in that way what people are complaining about, but that is old stuff auto aiming is flight sim stuff and in the rainbow six series you can choose to have this option as a player that is not what I meant whith a bot.I understand now that that is what these people that complain about them mean when they speak of bots. and wall hacking,,well that's just cheating right? I tought there were people who realy used smart programs to get them to play against human players but these people only untame their bot by controling its movement themselves, that seems pretty boring to me,where do they get of on? that's not winning.

not learning, but learning from mistakes. Such as dying one way, then they won't die that way again if they can. wall hacking is cheating as well, and as I said, normally the bots are moved by humans and the bot aims for them and either fires when it has a target or fires when done by the human, the aim will lock onto the target.

Wow, imagine Robot Wars, but having the robots armed with guns, flamethrowers(that actually do something), various means of explosives, electricity, things like that. It would be dangerous to go abd watch live, but it would make one hell of a good tv show. It would also cost alot, because the BBC building would probably EXPLODE!!! :micro:
