Could use a hand diagnosing this issue, thanks in advance.

I recently DL'd AA and am enjoying the tight, careful gameplay but have been having problems with my graphics (see my system specs below).

The bottom line, my graphics aren't smooth. When I turn sharply (say quickly looking left to right), I find the image pauses or hiccups just slightly. It just isn't smooth mouse movement. The problems becomes significantly worse when I run and almost unbearable when I enter any sort of building (i.e., pipeline map).

I would describe this phenomenon as a "jagging" of the onscreen image, almost as if my frame rates had dropped off the planet but with my system, surely I should have few, if any issues. I do not know how to check my frame rates nor do I know how to diagnose this problem.

My system: Pentium 4 2.53Mhz, 512MB 1066MHz RDRAM GeForce 4 Ti4600, with 41.xx Nvidia drivers ... all on recent installation of Windows XP Home, NTFS file system. Game is run in 1532x864 resolution.

With your system specs I would think you'd have great frame rates. To check them open consol and type stat fps. Try playing by yourself on a map by strating the game, hit consol and type start Weapons_Cache_Se or any other map u want. Type playerlock 0 to move around and mpcheat changeclass r to give yourself a gun. Check the fps while you move about the map. Also you could be describing lag, what's your ping like in game?

I just have one question. Does this happen the entire time you are on a server or is it just the first round or 2 when you start playing? The reason I ask is, when I start a game whether its single or multi, I get those hiccups or jumps in the game, for me its caused by the graphics and everything not loaded. So I do the "spin around" tryin to get all the graphics loaded and it runs smoother, and once Im dead, I scan through all the other players loading the rest of the map graphics in too, then the game runs fine.

If this is not the prob could it possibly be too many progz running in the background? Make sure you have the least amount of crap runnin on yer puter cuz that can screw things up a bit too.

I have a similar problem, yet I have not figured out the problem. I get the massive drop in fps at random times while playing. I will be playing and then all of a sudden my fps drops from 40+ fps when fighting to about 10 fps. When it occured again I looked at a wall and my fps was about 130+ then when the problem happened it droped to about 30 fps. This only happens about 2 or 3 times in a match (7) and sometimes never at all. I tried reinstalling AA:O, reinstalling video drivers, I have no other services or apps running in the background. I tried changing my virtual memory. I tried different servers, but to no avail that did not work. I still have no idea what is going on. Below are my system specs. I do get thoughs hiccups occassionally on a full server at the beginning but they go away.

Pentium 4 2.2Ghz, 512 MB Ram, Radeon 7500 Mobility, running at 1024 x 768 resolution.

Let me finish by saying at one point it was running fine and I was getting awsome fps. After the 1.5 update this changed and now I am getting the problem. Is this similar at all to your problem?

There is a few things that may be a problem 1. too many background apps, crtl alt delete then shut down all programs except syttray, explorer, and your internet connection 2. put resoultion to 800x600 and 16 bit mode 3.You may have a slow internet connection and it sounds like the lag is causing you to warp 4.You video settings may be wrong try resetting them, and if that doesnt work try finding out video card specs and setting settings to them

hope it helps :smokin:
