Look in your Windows Application Error Log and see if something was posted there during the time that you tried to launch the application. That should tell you what's going on. Usually an application that just crashes without an error message on the screen is a general protection fault (GPF). If the problem states that a general protection fault has occurred, AA Support lists this as a possible solution: Q: I get an error or a General Protection Fault when I try to launch the game. What do I do? A: Most likely you either need to get the latest version of DirectX or the latest drivers for your video card. Also make sure that your video card is supported. Voodoo cards and TNT cards are not supported.
