Yeah, I have the same, always have to tone down my graphic settings on that map, however the amount of objects, textures and such maybe are the reasons to the lag and not a bug.

Yes, it's that, it's a huge map with very detailed cities and lot of vehicles, it's very hungry of resources

Is there any plan to optimize it due to performance issues like the one me (and others) are having?

whenever i spawned as german by the airfield i got about 1 - 2 FPS, but as the brits took over the flag and killed me, the lag went away instantly. when i respawned i played as normal, with norm FPS of 30+

I have problem on mareth too, my copmuter sometimes freezes completely on that map. Fortunately it now happens only on mareth, it used to happen on other maps in 2.0, but in 2.1 i have no more this problem.. except mareth. I think it is somehow connected with HDD performance, because after each freeze I've got few errors on my disk.

be careful, that might mean your HDD is losing sectors! as you describe it, the delay might be due to the HDD being unable to read data from a given sectors on the first try, and having to retry reading a few times (and/or marking the sector as bad).

chkdsk fixes those errors with no problem. I am going to run some complex stability check of my HDD, anyone can advice me some good program for that?

btw, "Hard Disk Sentinel" says that disk status is perfect. I am now going to check the temperature of hdd during game, maybe it overheats on big maps such as mareth.
