Okay, I've already described my recent experience as Matilda commander that a direct hit of the commander arty could easily stop the "Desert queen".

However, today I noticed that you don't even need to hit the Matilda directly. Infact I realized that a Matilda blows up the instant a shell of the commander artillery lands anywhere near it. To make it clear: Not right on top of it, not next to it. Just anywhere near it. To me this seems like a broken damage modifier, since regular onmap-artillery requires a direct hit with AP shells to knock out that monster of a tank.

Oh, and there's a second oddity I ran accross: I was commanding a Panzer IV with long barrel and encountered a Stuart, showing its side to me. I was hoping for an easy kill and shot it with regular AP shells ... Approximately 3 times. I saw the hit indicator but nothing happened. 3 confirmed hits from a long-barreled Panzer IV didn't do much harm to the side armour of a Stuart ... Another broken damage modifier as it seems.

do you have hit indicator? if it's on, and you not see it, it's lag.

or are you using HE shells? or smoke shells?

Actually, I've noted that the Stuarts armour is a bit messed up. I've hit it in the side, with it sitting still, 3 times with PzGr39 without it dying, and once took 4 shells from a Pz4F1 to the front before it went down. Even took two HEAT rounds once. And yes, I know the Pz4F1 has a crap cannon, but the Stuart had paper thin armour, it was a light tank. There is no way it could stand up to a Pz3 or 4, and just barely scrape by with a Pz2.

I can not reproduce the "stuart bug" online, i get one shot one kill all the time with both AP and PSGR39 panzer IV f2. Was the stuart moving or was you hitting a specific part? Remember that hit indicators in bf2 cant be severly screwed up online from time to time.

maybe i have been inside the M3 honey often in aberdeen, i found it strange when i could stand a few shots without having any significant damage on my by a panzer 3, obviously they are using AP shells, but with PZG 40 my honey dies instantly, as if i played on the german side's panzer III.

obviously i makes no sense to be able to stand AP shells without being damaged for just being a light tank.

so it seemed the AP thing is a bit out of order or is it about the physics of collision? , no idea

Okay, I think I just found out. The Stuart I was shooting was actually a wreck. I didn't notice at first because I had my graphics set to low. However, what really irritates me is that I got the hit indicator even though the Stuart was no longer under a player's control.

But well, I think in real war too you aren't always sure whether a vehicle is really destroyed or not.

Back to the Matilda. Could anyone reproduce the instant death bug?

I've just fixed a problem with the stuart's side armour (essentially there are some patches on the side near the suspension where the a hit will not cause damage).
