I think gaming can be a social activity or an antisocial one, depending on what and where you play. If someone is playing a multiplayer game with their peers then this can do much to advance the players relationships with each other (otherwise know as having a laugh!). The same can be said for online gaming and LAN partys, in my opinion. Infact (sorry cant be bothered to find a link....quote is from a PC magazine) a government study conducted in the UK said: "regular gamers experienced a wider circle of friends than those who do not play computer games" (using games as a mutual interest) On the other hand locking yourself in your room, in the dark hunched over sim city for days on end is definatly not going to win you any friends!

As for the educational aspect of games, I think games can be used in such a way. The same government study also said: "they [gamers] have often shown a concentration and awareness level only before seen in such professionals who's lifes depend on this ability (astronauts etc)" In my view this study provides some interesting insights into the ability of games as a learning aid. And im my experience the results are true; I myself am a proffesional racing driver and I can say that gaming has improved my spacial awareness and reaction times, and It can show whilst i am racing (in comparison to before I started gaming).

Anyway thats my two cents!!

Hmm, don't know really. This is kinda like my home, I was hoping I could get my old buddys and bring it back to life, but it seems no one is willing to do that. I might take a peek at the other boards.
