Yes i do think snipers should have pistols,(im sure this was brout up many times but i didnt look at every thread) If u have ever looked closely enough u would see a sniper with a side arm, weather it be a pistol, or atleast a knife. Or even if u looked up on this matter, i think the socom pistol would fit nicely with a silencer:). Even if its not a sniper troops in general should carry a side arm in this game, also if u ever look at a picture u will 95 percent of the time see a soilder with a sidearm. Thats my opinion on this matter
They said that they did have firearms on their belts but you will not be able to use them.
No! I'm Spamacus!

They said people would begin to abuse them. How so? How do you abuse a pistol? Only a fool would go up against an enemy M249er with a small pistol..

That is true, but I think that snipers should be allowed to carry them. What would happen if an enemy soldier trys to attack. Sure he might win, but he sniper should get a chance to defend himself somehow.
Well, what we think or wish isn't always what happens! Here's whats happeneing..... ....As of NOW, soldiers will carry pistols but will not be able to use them! In the future, they MAY be available as side arms!
For the future!!!
Hey, about my first post i realized when i went to sleep (3 am) that the army doesnt use socoms, probably not even rangers, but still i agree, what is the point of a pistol if u cant use it. Why not just not have one at all until they get the patch or next full install out because it is a waste of space. Ya itll look more "realistic" to see a soilder with a pistol but if you cant use it is a waste of space.
If you are a sniper, you also have an observer (armed with more than his binocs) and the sniper. This is your sniper team. If you want realism in AAO, you need the sniper team. A sniper is nothing without his spotter. The spotter gives the sniper his range, wind and target info. If things boil down to it, the spotter also protects the sniper.
The bad part of this realism is in the game, there aren't enough people in the games (especially the sniper maps) to afford the 2-man crew. The only way to balance one defense guy rushing the assault's sniper position is to have a teammate watch over the sniper or give the sniper some personal protection.
Maybe if they don't want to put pistols in the game, how about an innacurate crosshair in regular view? I'm not saying grossly innacurate, but something to aim with using the regular view so that if someone gets CQB, they have some way to defend at close range (after all, versus an M4A1 or M16, 1 shot must be 1 kill).
Just my 2 cents.
slider does have a point, but we would need more people, which would mean we would need larger maps which would lead to a whole differnet subject of conversation. I am not sure about this casue im a noob to this game and all, but if ur a sniper and not in scope mode isnt ur rifle more inacurate anyway.
