I need your help - there has been reported an individual and random crash bug in Prokhorovka. I have not experienced it myself - and now probably due to this there are not many servers running the map. I need to know all you can tell me about this bug:

  • Does it happen in connection with using any type of equipment?
  • Does it happen in connection with any specific location on the map?
  • Does it happen both for Axis & Allies or only one side?
  • Does it happen in connection with any specific event - like capture of flag - bomb exploding etc?
  • Do you have any suggestions?

I experienced this bug a lot of times on Prokhorovka. it's really pissing me off because after a couple minutes of playing I get disconnected and almost every time I respawn. It's with both Axis and Allies. I got it once when I threw a bomb with the IL2, twice while respawning and also twice while just driving a tank. and it is with any type of equipment.

I have a feeling it's the elefant. Everytime I disconnect from prokhorovka, i am within visual range of the elefant. As far as I've noticed. But this has only happened twice, so it's not a great sample.

As for "Does it happen in connection with any specific location on the map?" I'd say the southern axis base

I believe it's caused by the IL-2 with bomblets. Maybe it eats slower machines' resources enough to crash them?

For me it crashes randomly, sometimes when playing, sometimes when spectating.

It's not really the disconnections that are annoying me (which I don't get that often at all), but more over the terrible lag on that map. If you ask me, the northern flag can be removed, seeing as it serves no purpose (it's the flag that is contually being changed from sides by jeepers and kubelers), not to mention, the whole city area eating your fps, due to the large distance view it still draws that area, even if on the other side of the river!

The worst part has to be the center flag.. just where the big action takes place.. it lags like SHIT I tell ya. I don't know if it's the trees, or the computer drawing the bases, even though they are hidden behind the hills.

No sir, this maps needs less lag and more concentrated action!

The IL2 that has the bomblets is the cause of the bug. As soon as someone starts flying the aircraft, the server starts disconnecting people. I am guessing there is an error in the coding similar to the knee-mortar bug the Japanese had on the Pacific maps.

Also the ambient sounds on the map are the cause of alot of lag on the map. When I Captained a 20vs20 match on this map (AEF vs LSS) I asked all my team mates to turn there sound settings to minimal if they weren't using dedicated sound cards.

If a server has alot of players and there is a heavy firefight, unless you are running FH with a cray super computer it seems to become a slideshow. There still needs to be alot of improvements to coding and optimisation, this is a shame because Prokhorovka is one of my favourite maps.

LSS tested it further after the match and we found more specifically that once the bomblet pilot drops the bomblets the enemy team will start to get kicked from the server. It appeared to be localised to the Germans being kicked. In addition the longer that the pilot drops the bomblets the more people that are kicked, almost as if people are kicked per 20 bomblets say.
