Well, this has happened to me several times. Well, I was in a Matilda and was hiding behind a box on Tobruk. Well, the Panzer 4 shot the BOX and toke away half my health. Note, he DID not hit me. Also, I have heard people getting killed by its splash in Matildas. Perhaps this is the same reason why the commanders arty kills the tank without hitting it.

I don't know if HEAT rounds are coded with an explosive radius, but it might be this: in the BF2 engine vehicles are always damaged by explosions, regardless of any obstacles between the explosion point of origin and the vehicle. This applies to vehicles only.

In other words, if a vehicle and an infantryman are hiding behind a wall and an arty shell explodes on the other side of the wall, the explosion will damage the vehicle but not the infantryman (which will only be stunned).

This is why commander radios are always destroyed when their bunker is hit by artillery.

I think it's more of a network thing, the shell hits you but you see it hitting the box.

I dought it. I am behind things and he shots the things and it hurts me. I'm this could happen once in a while, but I am legit behind houses and get hit more than once.

If he was stationary (as I suppose to be the case while behind cover) this is unlikely, unless the firing tank was moving or bouncing... which is also unlikely, as it wouldn't be able to aim anyway.

Couldn't reproduce.

AP from Pnz IV on Matilda was direct kill. HE no dmg at all.

Box inbetween blocked rounds.

So I don't know how this happend but boxes and AP/HE rounds seem to function as intended...
