As some of you may know, WOLF has been having problems with Rhein for a long time, mostly random mass disconnects (most often of axis players). I ran the map through the debugger, which of course doesn't show you stuff that may only happen during online play, but it did come up with several errors, most notably this one:

Dithmarschen is the axis supply ship and that ship does have problems; several people have mentioned getting extra lag when being near it.

I'm no expert, but judging from the MDT, 'networkable' seems to involve stuff that tells BF that update info about this specific objects is to be sent to all clients in MP. So it seems possible that the error can at least cause extra lag, but might it cause more serious problems too?

As far as I know, you can't change NetworkInfo-related things through server-side modding, so the bug can't be fixed, but it would be possible (and fairly easy) to remove or replace the ship. Just have no idea whether it'd make enough of a difference to be worth it.

thats the only german supply ship im afraid, so it cant be changed for another german supply ship.

yeah, would have to be a non-German ship, which would be rather lame, but if Dithmarschen is causing a large part of the problems with Rhein, replacing it with a Japanese or even an allied ship might be worth it.

supply ships are team only repair/supply, so a japanese ship wouldnt work.

Quick 'proof of concept' SSM. Would need a few adjustments for real use: http://hjem.tele2adsl.dk/wayward/misc/Rheinuebung-1941_009.zip

Changed Dithmarschen to Tsurumi boiler from Midway and replaced Tsurumi's supplydepot characteristics with those from Dithmarschen. It works on my local dedicated server. You don't get a repair icon when close to the boiler, of course, but it does repair the right vehicles.

It does seem a bit silly to have Daihatsus instead of barkasses and it's possible that could be changed, but probably not without running into other kinds of silliness (like barkasses not fitting the Daihatsu launchers on the Tsurumi and such).

i dont think it would work, as the client versions would be different to the server file.

Or, to put it another way: When I have just told you that my changes work as an SSM on a dedicated server, your reply is a bit puzzling; the whole point with SSMs is that they work without changing the version of the maps.

Japanese ship should work since it is also axis. Bf42 only differs between axis and allies, not single nations. It's not possible to change the boats to barkasses because you would have to change the objects code itself.
