I have the ASUS GeForce4 Ti Deluxe 128mb video card. (with the 3d glasses) It was the most loaded of the nVidia series I could find and has their fastest chipset of the gForce4 family (mx440, etc.)

Anyhow, there are a lot of new video cards coming out or have just been released from ATI, NVIDIA and Matrox.

Just wanted to get ppls opinion of what card (maker as well, not just chipset. for example PNY vs visiontek. etc) is the absoloute best. Compatability is obviously not the main issue as that is usually resolved in a short time after release. So perfomance and manufacture quality is my main concern.

Don't bother factoring in price either cause I dropped $300.00 on this card so I am willing to re-invest (if necessary) so I can have the best. (will sell my old one on ebay)

Thanks for your forthcoming input on this matter.

ADDITION: Hey what's the QUADRO FX and how does it differ from the gForce FX?? (both made by nVidia) it's on their site but they don't talk about it ----------------------------------------------------------------------

I guess that sums it up. Any particular make or version of the FX?

I know everyone is bragging about the ATI 8900 and it's 8x power.

but I like nVidia and it would be cool to stick w them. I will read up on their site about the FX chipset.

However there are going to be variants I am sure, like visiontek, pny, etc. Also MX440 SE 420, etc. TI4600..

If u know of this as well any suggestions would be appreciated.

Again quality and what u get being the main point.

I noticed the PNY card they put out for the MX440SE gForce4 is a bit chinsy compared to some others which HAVE COOLING FANS and monitoring built in.

Heres how I look at it...

Nvidia cards have always run faster than SIMILAR ATI cards.

That is my personal opinion. I love my G4 TI4200 and I would have gone higher could I have. Also, when did you look on their website about the FX?? I have heard on several gaming sites are that there are rumors about the FX being scrapped due to overheating issues. I dont know if this is true... But I would wait a little longer.... Right now the best video card that I know of out on the market is the ATI Radeon 9700 pro. You cant beat that one with a stick. It is awesome. I dont think Nvidia has anything close to it yet. Anyone know anything?

The Quadro is nVidia's workstation card. It's made to be used for computer aided drafting and solid modeling type of stuff. If you want the best and have some deep pockets then ATI makes a Radeon 9700 Pro All In Wonder. It's just a 9700 Pro with a TV tuner and video capture stuff. That's the best right now but I agree with Top Gun the FX will rule.

Thanks for the input. Sounds like the FX is worth the wait. If I am extremely impatient I can get the ATI card now and just juggle it with the store's 30day return policy, and then permanently return it when the FX arrives. Any idea when it will be available?

Thanks again for all the help

The problem I've noticed with the ATI cards is that while they are excellent quality, they tend to have graphical bugs with most games. Not major ones, just little things like seeing some tutie-fruity pixels in the skybox. These bugs always end up having to be fixed by a patch, either made for the game or for the card so it completly supports the game.
