Well, the PS/2 does seem powerfull, more so than has been reached. It might be possible, that the AI is better, although the Graphics definately are not. I'll have to do some research. Nonetheless, the Console is old. The PS/3 will have to be something special for developers to prefer it again.

The X-Box is an attempt by Microsoft to Get more money. To control the game industry, which is the second biggest side of the industry. Not something I want, so I didn't buy an X-Box. After the Joke that was Windows Me, its ovbious Bill doesn't care about the Home user. So I don't won't the X-Box 3 to be the only console, and be a Celeron 1.2ghz, with an nVidia Geforce 4 MX440.

Nintendo has lost a lot of ground without Online features. This is my prefered console. However the next Generation of Consoles will likely DEPEND on online capability. Sony & X-Box both now have experience with this feature, Nintendo does not. I used to think Nintendo's choice to hold back was smart, Intel held back on 64-bit processors, and it doesn't seem to be the wrong choice, yet.

However, I do now see the folly in Nintendo's decision. The developers will likely prefer a company who has experience with online gaming. Microsoft is naturally, gonna be the first choice. ".NET Gaming, the Future of Online Gaming" - I'll barf when that happens.

While I do prefer Nintendo, and believe that the X-Box is overrated. I do not dispute that Microsoft has now gained an upper hand in the gaming industry. Sony is losing ground, and few can withstand the force of the M$ empire, for long.

-EDIT- As for Intel I'll go ahead and actually continue my train of thought. Intel held back because they believed it wouldn't be market share, or cost effective to release a 64-bit processor, to the average Joe, without a 64-bit OS to run it. They already had 64-bit processors, but they didn't have a demand from the average consumer market for them.

I do believe they plan on releasing 64-bit technology, with the release of windows XP, some time in the next few months. When that happens, how much better of a processor Will AMD64 be, of Intel EMT64 HT enabled processors?

AtaraxisLets make one thing perfectly clear........ Copying and pasting completely useless facts from some random website, that probably has absolutley no idea what they are talking about, does not constitute a valid argument for why the PS2 is 'better' than the xbox. The PS2's hardware and architecture are based purely on 9 year old technology that was used on the PSX, so know points for working out why most PS2 owners have gone through more than one PS2 in the course of their console gaming history. THE PS2 IS EFFECTIVELY AN OVERCLOCKED PSX, with the same standard parts, and falls apart on a regular basis. This is the biggest reason Sony have sold so many units..... they keep breaking, and ppl need to replace them. However, Sony's marketing team have been really clever in creating a household brand in the PS that means that it is the first thing on the tip of the tounge of ppl when they think of consoles. This is changing very quickly.... Sony are about to lose the top spot in consumer electronics to samsung, good way forward then? don't think so, they are doing that badly, that their credit rating has just been dropped from perfect to good, so things are not looking good.... (and don't try to argue with me on that, i work in the industry, and know EVERYTHING that is going on) Market researchers are pitting that the next Xbox (Although backward compatibility will be very unlikely) will beat the next PS 2:1 so sony's future is not looking good The only console that is technologically very clever is the game cube, on standards it is the second best console available, it does miraculous things with its hardware, first and foremost FSAA on its GPU, i love the way they have managed it. The PS2 is third on the list as its dead dormant technology, that is unreliable, and not particularly clever. The majority of games on it are utter s**t, there is very little in the way of quality titles available, and the ones that are there are losing popularity (lets face it Pro Evo has gone cross platform, as are all the squaresoft (yes they will be making an apperance on the xbox, starting with a classics(FF7 + 8 remade)) we still haven't seen anything of GT4) In response to 'the xbox has, what, 3d shooters? because those aren't a dime a dozen? medal of honor series is on ps2, good enough for me. Contra: Shattered Solider isn't on Xbox. Neither is Amplitude, Animal Crossing, Final Fantasy, Metroid, ZOE, Def Jam, the new Gradius V, the new TMNT 3D fighter, Dynasty Warriors, GTA, Gran Turismo, the new Castlevania, anything Mario, Guilty Gear X2, Primal, Resident Evil, etc.' Half of these titles are already cross platform, so go into your local store, open your eyes and see what is actually on sale, and come back when you have something intelligent to add to the debate. In conclusion, the PS2 is s**te, the cube is impressive for what it has, and the xbox based on both specs, (graphical ability, the ps2 cant come anywhere close, go and compare NFSU2 if you don't believe me, oh and why is it that both doom 3 and half-life 2 will only be making apperances on the xbox, because it is the only console capable of rendering either of these games) and the games, which there may not be that many of, but most of ARE worth playing which cannot be said about the PS2 As a PC gamer, my opinion is unbiased, i have owned all three, and only still have my xbox and my cube. so that says a lot But your opinions are up to you, the evidence is clear for all to see. All you've got to do is open your eyes

-_-* I'm getting sick of this damn console argument. Who knew opinions could cause such a waste of a thread? Oh, and in reply to the topic, I've been playing PlayStation ever since 1995 and will NOT ever use an Xbox in my house. I'll probably use a GC but that's the only other system I'll use. Anybody who had the time to read the whole thing that guy posted about the PS2, I hope you actually know that the info he posted was from an interview with an ACTUAL PS2 game programmar. So don't get ideas that they don't know what they're talking about. ________________________ Will the war ever end?

Someone pointed out, that the site wasn't a refutable source. That it might not actually have occured...

But since there is truth to every rumor, I am sure that its power has not been fully utilized.

Ps2 is my fave console. It was the first console I got. Ps1 was the first console I got but it was my dads. I really like the platform games for Ps2 like Ratchet & Clank. I also like the rpg's and fighting games to.
