Hello everybody!

Very noobishly I present my first post in this forum with a pledge for help :P First of all, my heartfelt congratulations to the developers for the best, 360°, wonderful, realistic 3d mod (that's a game in itself) about WW2.

Ok, back to the bad part. I've been playing FH smoothly for some months on my old Athlon 3 ghz, with 700mb of RAM and a nice ATI RADEON 1550 256mb.

My motherboard fried up some days ago so I bought a Pentium 4, 3.2 GHZ, 1GB of ram, kept my RADEON...

but now, my FH works awfully, especially concerning audio!!! The game automatically set itself on High video and audio standards, but they aren't half as good as on my old PC. Of course I d/loaded the latest drivers for my ATI and audio card (an integrated card, it's a SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio (Asus P4C800/P4P800).

The video is veryy slow, and the sounds are like in mono...

In the game, the audio is set at 32 channels, hi sound quality, 44 HZ.

Any hints?

Thanks a lot.

Hmm looks sound related, this game has the odd tendancy that if the audio card is not that good (integrated) the game will lag.

Try and set it to the none hardware accelarated variant ingame (64 voices) Maybe that could fix it.

Another thing could be temperature related, try and run Asus probe (cdrom/asus site) while gaming and see what kind of temps your cpu gets up to. Do the same for your Ati.

Cpu temps should be around 35idle, 45stress depending on you cooling block Graphics temp should be around 45idle, 50-55 stress

If the temps are much higher, chances are the cooing block isn't on tight enough...

did you also download drivers for the mainboard itself ? not sure what your chipset is , but often i would get them straight from the chipset procuder ( via nvidia or intel ) instead of the mainboard manufacturer .

also did you reinstall windows completely ? or tried to run it on the new mobo with new drivers ? cause that always gives trouble .

hows general computer performance and how do other games run ?

also check your bios settings , is ram set at right speed , is the cpu going at the right speed etc .

Thanks both for the advice. Computer's performance is very high, audio with, for example, music is very high-performance. So it's only game-related.

Yes, I fresh-started, completely. I also, obviously, reinstalled BF1942 and FH.

The present sound settings, the first time i started the game were: software; channels to 32; 44HZ. I tried to switch between the HZ, but maybe I should try a bit more. Thanks again for the interest!

I have not solved the problem yet, but I've run DX Diagnostic and that's the mistake I get, maybe that can elighten someone, I'm still in the dark.

I reinstalled the SoundCard drivers and now FH doesnt have sound at ALL (just the intro/interface music) and also websites as YouTube or MySpace don't have sound anymore.

The DX Diagn report:

Description: SoundMAX Digital Audio Default Sound Playback: Yes Default Voice Playback: Yes Hardware ID: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24D5&SUBSYS_80F31043&REV_02 Manufacturer ID: 1 Product ID: 100 Type: WDM Driver Name: smwdm.sys Driver Version: 5.12.0001.3630 (English) Driver Attributes: Final Retail WHQL Logo'd: Yes Date and Size: 6/2/2003 13:42:14, 578304 bytes Other Files: Driver Provider: Analog Devices HW Accel Level: Full Cap Flags: 0xF5F Min/Max Sample Rate: 100, 48000 Static/Strm HW Mix Bufs: 33, 32 Static/Strm HW 3D Bufs: 33, 32 HW Memory: 0 Voice Management: Yes EAX(tm) 2.0 Listen/Src: Yes, Yes I3DL2(tm) Listen/Src: Yes, Yes Sensaura(tm) ZoomFX(tm): Yes Registry: OK Sound Test Result: Failure at step 19 (User verification of software): HRESULT = 0x000

You should go for a new soundcard; Integrated always suck. It's a whole different world, if you go for an X-Fi card, for example. You can get it for sub 80€ price.

Yep, you're right. This is the option I should definitely go through. I'm already missing too much FH fun :P
