Hi there, I got a little question (so I thought this would be the best department) can you become a beta tester? Or do you have to be a good friend of the devs or something or is it full just name everything you know. I just love FH2 and I would really like to beta test it.
I remember them saying once that they had more than enough beta testers.
I'm wondering exactly how many they have, because just after they anounced the patch was in the works, people went missing from the regular servers. I'm going to assume they are already testing but I'm probably wrong.
im not a dev, but pretty much all mods say this. best way to starting your journey to beta testerr-dom is to be active on the forums, help people, and just in general don't be a jack*** to anyone. then you'll get that magical pm that we've all been waiting for that iirc comes from lightning
we have a lot of testers but unfortunately many of these just wanted to take a peak at the beta played it/them for a few weeks and never showed up again. Big disappointment. So now afaik testers are only considered due to recommendation. Sure knowing some devs or testers helps a lot. Best way to become a tester is be active in the forums , help people, report bugs, and make reasonable suggestions.
beeing a tester is more than just being chosen and able to play the lates beta versions of the game, you have to sacrifice at least 4h a week for general testing / balancing and even more for bug hunting , on your local server/single player or on the secret testing server. testing the same stuff in different quality level and sound options and so on it is not just all fun and games.
also i think a certain level of maturity is expected, you being 15 doesnt help at this point. No offense!
Mental maturity doesn't comes with age.
We get new testers by sending them an invitation - we don't normally accept any applications.
I don´t think beta-testing is about just having the newest FH2 version and playing it from time to time. I betatested in the closed CoH OF beta once and the people who entered it with that expectation were soon gone. It´s about really good feedback and actually knowing something about the phylosophy behind the game and about balancing. The forums were full of smacktards that were convinced to be the best player of all times and who made deciding what feedback was intelligent and what was pure "I-lost-so-its-imba"-bullshit. So I think the devs are right with their policy: too many morons make serious beta-testing impossible.

I didn't expected to become a tester immediatly :p Just informing I always thought it would be cool to beta test such a mod and I was curious how that worked. So I know enough now :) Thanks for responding all!
I thought if you get accepted, a black car picks you up then drives you to a disclosed area.
lol, i've always pictured it more like the matrix. a tiny blue pill will knock you out and you'll wake up on some crazy ass ship floating thru some fugly watery stuff... and of course the red pill...well no one has lived to tell what the red pill does  @die happy: 4hrs? that doesn't seem like much. when i was a Dcon tester i coulda sworn it was more
